NOW subscribers get to test out the new FX Channel for 1 month.
This is really the way to test new products in the Hong Kong market not familiar with the likes of the 20th Century Fox cable TV channel from the U.S.. Barring the adult content that NOW TV runs, you may find the FX Channeloffers alot of old school shows like Son of the Beach, JAG, Relic Hunter and MacGyver, but this all changes on Monday.
FX Asia is bringing the newest and most popular shows to its new line-up, like the award-winning Mad Men, Family Guy, The Riches, Peep Show, Saving Grace and the former Fox Mulder’s new show Californication – a dramedy with lots of nudity and humour in a way only the deadpan and recovering real-life sex addict David Duchovny can portray as seen in this clip below:
The free month of FX starts November 3rd and runs till December 2nd, 2008 so make sure you check it out on your NOW TV on Channel 524 (Usual price is HK$40 a month) and let us know what shows you find that we should be watching as well.
A trade show with more skin than usual from December 4-7, 2008.
This is too crazy not to bring to your attention. Not only is there an Asia Adult Expo 2008 in Macau, but its at The Venetian. Before all you Vivid fans go crazy this is not a “porn show” this is a respectable Adult Expo and is more about education than meeting porn stars. And its a show for guys AND girls, so you won’t need that overcoat and sunglasses:
Asia Adult Expo 2008 (AAE) is an Exclusive & Foremost ADULT Trade & Entertainment Show in the HEART of Asia which will be held at Macau, Asia’s Las Vegas. It will be located in a world class standard expo venue, The Venetian. This kind of show is a staple in Las Vegas, so it’s obvious it would find its way to Macau. Read all about it and get tickets at their site where they have lots of brochures and dealer lists so you know what to expect. We went to one in Vegas and Sydney in the past and its like a mix of lingerie fashion shows, a calvacade of sex products and crazy booths with dildos, that still isn’t too raunchy you can’t take your girlfriend or wife to, and you never know, maybe it will generate some new ideas.

Well we didn’t post alot about the Hallowe’en going-on’s in Hong Kong this week unfortunately, but in lieu of that we wanted to at least acknowledge the night of the living dead and to warn you to stay away from Lan Kwai Fong tonight if you have even an inkling of wanting to go there, unless running around a steel maze and being pointed and laughed at by little kids is your thing.
We close our look at modern horror movies with this freak-out from Japan: The Grudge (Ju-On). We remember seeing the trailer in the JP Cinema in Causeway Bay and the entire audience made more noise after those 2 minutes than the main feature (Matrix Revolutions) and while its not the best horror movie ever made, like The Ring, it will give you chills and thrills and images in your mind you won’t forget easily.We haven’t seen the U.S. version with Sarah Michelle Geller, but this Japanese one has enough scary moments to keep you on the edge of your seats. The spider girl and the creepy little kid looking up from the edge of your bed – are freakier than any Freddy Krueger or Jason.

Gears of War 2 is upon us. Saying that this is our most anticipated Xbox 360 game of the season is an understatement. Epic Games brings us the second installment of one of the great 360 games of all time. You, some buddies, a chainsaw gun and tons and tons of white monkey like monsters is all part of a great time. We’re expecting some new weapons and moves but the same great gameplay when the game hits Hong Kong on November 11th with a SRP of HK$349.
Not that we needed any extra incentive to buy the game, but you’d think that Microsoft would have had a cool T-shirt or lancer keychain as the pre-order gift instead of a Circle K hot dog. We mean, yes we’ll be hungry playing the game 12 hours straight, but I think a change of clothes would be better than a measly wiener, no?
