We promised this review back when the movie opened in Hong Kong but decided to hold back on it to co-incide with the DVD release which is out now in Hong Kong.
While we saw the film in the cinema back in Octover, the Tropic Thunder on DVD and VCD (no Blu-ray yet) have recently come out here in Hong Kong. HMV has it for HK$159 on DVD and the usual locations in Mong Kok have it for less. But no matter where you go you, if you are a comedy fan or need a smile after watching your net worth go up and mostly down then this is the movie to do it with.
The movie starts with 3 fake trailers to introduce the actor characters played by Ben Stiller (the action hero), Jack Black (the over the top comedian) and Robert Downey Jr. (the serious method actor) and you know that the 3 of them are filming a war movie and end up being part of a real military operation.

Brad Pitt’s newest movie arrives in Hong Kong for the Year of the Ox.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button has officially released its Hong Kong poster and release date in Hong Kong on January 22, 2009 – that means David Fincher’s Academy Award-buzzed film about a man who ages backwards will be one of your Chinese New Year movies.
