After more than a year of beta testing, IE8 is finally available for download!
Due to the not-so-great previous versions of Internet Explorer, Microsoft finally put a lot of work into their newest web browser. The recently released Internet Explorer 8 offers many new improvements in both scripting support and user interface.
The most important improvements of Internet Explorer8 were the improvements in the support of web scripts such as CSS, and AJAX. Previously, certain advanced web pages will not load properly/load slowly when viewed with Internet Explorer. However, with this new release, most people would agree that browsing speeds and script support are close to that of Firefox and Opera.
Of course, there have been many additions to the browsing interface itself. One cool thing added is called Web Slices. This new feature allows you to view updated information directly within your favorites bar. With this, you can easily view updated information such as weather information and Facebook status updates. This is how it looks:
Whether you saw her in The Heartbreak Kid, 27 Dresses (you saw that with your girlfriend, right?) or this month in the incredible film Watchmen, Malin Akerman has proven herself to be more than just the new Cameron Diaz.
The 30-year old actress was born in Sweden but raised in Canada, she started a modeling career at 17 which led to movies and TV shows. You might remember seeing her first in Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle as the Freakshow’s wife, but her big break was opposite Ben Stiller in The Heartbreak Kid, which if it was a good movie might have sent her career upwards faster.
No doubt she pulls off a great feat of bringing the second Silk Spectre to life in Watchmen and her plate is full with new movies with A-listers like Vince Vaughn, Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock. A set of sexy pix of Malin below. if you haven’t seen it yet, try and get to the cinema this weekend and check out Watchmen.
Standing at only 3mm thin, it’s the world’s thinnest OLED TV.
If you’re hunting for the latest TV technology, this is it. The Sony XEL-1 OLED TV not only offers a super-seek profile, but it also offers unparalleled picture quality and consumes 40% less power than similar TVs its size! It also recently won the International Forum Design’s Product Design Award.
This TV offers a 1,000,000 : 1 contrast ratio. Yes, one million to one! That’s 100 times the contrast of the best HDTV out there with a 10,000 : 1 contrast ratio. Also, the OLED TV has an unsurpassed 0.1 millisecond response time. (The best TVs out there usually has a response time of 3-8 milliseconds.) The display is only 11″ big, but it has a resolution of 960 x 540, which is the same pixel density as a 40″ full 1080p LCD TV.
Ever since Apple came up with the iMac All-in-One desktop, other computer manufacturers really started liking the idea and making their own versions of it. Well, it’s not too late for Dell yet, as they just recently announced in Japan their newest All-in-One desktop with Multi-Touch technology, named the Studio One 19. Looks like Dell really likes Apple technology eh? Both the All-in-One and the Multi-Touch part.
As the name suggests, the Studio One 19 will offer an almost 19 inch display– 18.5″ to be exact. It will offer a 1366×768 resolution with multi-touch capabilities (which you have to pay extra for). It also boasts a stylish aluminum/glass/cloth design that comes in white, red, blue, pink, and black. With this computer, you definitely won’t have to worry about its looks!
Bose finally released an iPod dock that works properly with the iPhone!
If you owned the original Bose SoundDock and an iPod Touch or iPhone, you probably realized and are pissed that your iPhone won’t even charge. Well, after four years since the launch of the first SoundDock, Bose finally released their newest SoundDock Series II that will be compatible with the iPhone and the latest iPods.
So, what exactly are the new features offered in this new SoundDock? Well, we’re disappointed to say that there’s barely anything new except for the fact that it supports the newest iPhone 3G. The dimensions and looks remain the same as the original SoundDock, and the sound quality is about the same. However, one major difference you’ll find is that the new SoundDock II will offer an 8-button infrared remote instead of the traditional SoundDock‘s 6-button remote.
Besides the remote, the only other noticeable change we could find was the rear auxiliary-in port. Though it’s not a very groundbreaking change, some iPod users might find it more convenient and useful.
So, if you’re a Bose fan and love their simplicity, the SoundDock II won’t disappoint you. It definitely still offers the great sound quality like all other Bose products. However, the new SoundDock II, still priced at US$299/HK$2325, won’t be the best bang for the buck. If you’re seeking high-quality sound, Bose is a great choice, but other manufacturers such as Klipsch and Altec Lansing may offer the same quality for a lower price. For more information on this product, check out the Bose SoundDock II on Bose’s website!
