Hot off the press! SmarTone-Vodafone in Hong Kong just announced that they will be releasing the new HTC Magic, the very FIRST official, non-parallel market Android smartphone in our fair city!

HTC Magic is preloaded with tailored mobile versions of popular Google services and offers direct access to Gmail and Google Search. HTC Magic provides an enhanced YouTube experience, allowing users to upload videos directly, watch videos in widescreen, rate their favourites and view comments. Google Maps now includes Latitude and is enabled with Street View in anticipation of its coming Hong Kong launch. Google Talk is also included to help customers stay in touch with friends via instant messaging. Google’s unrivalled innovation continues with its latest development, Android Market on HTC Magic. Customers can browse through close to 2000 apps, including games, shopping, travel, social networking and many more, currently available, free of charge, for quick and easy download. This smartphone also includes a variety of email options, such as POP3 and IMAP, as well as Gmail. It enables synchronization and automatic push for Microsoft Exchange Server-based email and Gmail, to ensure your calendar, contacts and email accounts are constantly kept up to date.

Most importantly, it allows Hong Kong to get ready for the upcoming launch of Google’s Hong Kong Street View feature! We’ve seen the Google camera car driving around HK for the past few months, so we’re very excited about this feature.

Pre-orders for the white or black version are being made available now to SmarTone-Vodafone Prioprity Plus members, but it looks like the Magic will be available in the first week of June and when the stock is here the price and plans will be released.

Very exciting news for Hong Kong as the smartphone wars heat up, as you’ll have to choose between this exciting new Android phone, the Palm Pre or the next Apple iPhone – because if you aren’t using a smartphone by the end of the year you’ll be missing out.

SmarTone hasn’t given us an official date yet – but we are guessing it as June 8th, but we’ll update our calendar when we get the official word. Click through to HTC’s site here to see all the specs. Smartone provided features are listed below:

Star Trek Beaming to Hong Kong on June 4th

One of the biggest Summer movies finally gets a Hong Kong release date.

startrek Star Trek Beaming to Hong Kong on June 4th

Highly Illogical. Star Trek: the one major Summer U.S. movie was delayed from its May 8th opening date in North America to a June 4th date here in Hong Kong. What happened? Everything else opens 1 day before to prevent piracy in Asia. No Trekkie love from the Knockoff Kingdom?

Anyways, its finally been announced, most likely because of its huge success in the U.S. and its probably shirt-losing losses the HK distributors had of the last 9 trek movies. The new cast above below the originals.

See the trailer below and tons of U.S. TV commercials here, and definitely hit up the official site for some Steve Jobs-inspired spaceship interface design:

Electronic Arts announced that The Sims 3 will launch across the PC, Mac, iPhone, iPod Touch and mobile devices this Summer and for the PC will ship in Hong Kong and worldwide starting June 2, 2009.

If you don’t know what The Sims are then this won’t mean alot to you, but the thing that got us excited was that it’s also in development for Mac, iPhone, iPod Touch and mobile devices. And we thought the mobile Facebook app was a time waster enough, now we’ll have to deal with our non-real life too.

Advance look at what Micheal Bay’s Soundwave will look like on June 24.

soundwave Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen

Here’s an exclusive look at the new Soundwave (you remember him, the one that transformed into a Sony Walkman) from this Summer’s sequel Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen which comes out in Hong Kong on June 24th in the U.S.

Many Transformers purists won’t even look at these versions of their beloved Autobots and Decepticons, which is fair, since:

  • the movie Soundwave doesn’t transform into a Walkman or anything similar, but a jet (WTF?)
  • the fact that the rest of the TF’s don’t look anything like the cartoons or original toys.

Get ready to transform and roll out to a Hong Kong Toys “R” Us, where they will definitely have huge shelf space spotlighting the entire Hasbro line.

There’s a bunch of other Transformers they are showing here at an official Transformers 2 movie blog so have a jump over here and spoil the movie for yourself.

Or better yet have a reason to change your underwear by watching the incredible 30-second Superbowl commercial from this past Sunday:
