NorikoSakai On the Run with Noriko Sakai

Noriko Sakai, the Japanese singer and actress with a girl-next-door image, is a huge star in Japan, China, Taiwan and of course here in Hong Kong. Noriko has made headlines over the past few weeks by being on the run in Japan from the law for alleged drug charges, proving that Jill Vidal wasn’t the only one that had a hard time with drugs in Japan.

Noriko kicked off her music career in 1987 with her first single at the age of 16, bringing comparisons to being the Asian Kylie Minogue. The biggest selling song of her career was 1995′s Aoi Usagi. She’s starred in TV shows and her coolest role was in Ju-On 2 (The Grudge)

Her real life drama continues…as do the photos of Noriko below:

New Sony Cyber-Shots Make Their Way to Hong Kong

Friday. 21 August. 2009. 9:52 am

Sony takes it up a notch with high-end lenses.

cybershot1 New Sony Cyber Shots Make Their Way to Hong Kong

Sony Hong Kong presents not 1 but 2 new Cyber-shot cameras, DSC-TX1 and DSC-WX1 – presumably for those who want good photos without having to carry around 8,000 kg of photographic equipment.

Designed to give compact camera users fresh new photo experiences. Some of the new features are Hand-held Twilight and Sweep Panorama mode which enable for crisper images. In addition to te new modes, the “Exmor R” CMOS sensor is supposedly twice as sensitive to light which can help reduce noise.

The key feature to watch is the Party-shot mode which automatically captures pictures through an auto-shooting system using “Sony’s Face Detection” and “Smile Detection” technologies and uses algorithms to frame a decent shot within the party scene. This sounds terrific but we’ve yet to see it in motion yet so we remain dubious.

The key differences between these two is that the DSC-TX1 comes with a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens and the DSC-WX comes with a super wide-angle 24mm f/2.4 “G” lens which will obviously change your shooting experiences.

The new Cyber-shot cameras DSC-TX1 and DSC-WX1 will be available at the beginning of September at HK$2,990 and HK$2,790 respectively. The Party-shot is now available at HK$990.

Mac accessories made specifically for the Mac and not recolored PC stuff.

backpack Twelve South Gives Your Mac Stylish New AccessoriesAs Mac users, we hardly ever come across accessories made for Mac. The best we’ve ever gotten was PC accessories colored white and labeled “For Macs”. We know that the one most important reason that we chose to buy a Mac was for the design and looks. What’s the point of getting an overpriced Mac when we’ll have ruin its marvelous looks by pairing it up with mismatching PC accessories?

Well, that time has finally come to an end. Twelve South, a fairly new company, has gone on a mission to develop accessories exclusively for Macs. The result: perfect match and beauty.

So far, they’ve released 3 different accessories. Our favorite, no doubt, is called the Backpack. The Backpack is a gorgeous little shelf that you can attach to the back of your iMac or Apple Cinema Display. This stylish space-saver can keep your peripherals out of sight while still in reach. You can put anything from USB drives, external hard drives, to even a Mac Mini! The best part is that this shelf relies entirely on gravity and two little adjustible clips, so you won’t ever need to hurt your Mac with cruel screws. This means that you’ll be able to hang more than one Backpack on your Mac! Backpacks are available to be purchased on their official website for HK$230 each, or HK$1,200 for 6 plus shipping.

The BookArc (pictured below) is a stand that can hold anything from a Macbook Air to a 17″ Macbook Pro. The BookArc not only can save valuable desk space, but it also can protect your Macbook by hugging it perfectly with silicone cushions. The best part about it is– it’ll look perfect next to your iMac.
