BorderLands: Gore, Guns and Gripping Violence

Thursday. 24 September. 2009. 9:41 am

The end of the world is coming to consoles and PC next month.

borderlands2 BorderLands: Gore, Guns and Gripping Violence

An upcoming science fiction, first-person shooter with various RPG elements and outlandish, cartoony graphics appear to be overrunning us on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC platforms this October with Borderlands. In a hell-torn wasteland similar to Doom or Fallout 3, Borderlands gets you to deal with the trash. Think of a game like Diablo where demons are coming after you but instead of an isometric view…you’re dealing with it in first-person. With amazing graphics. That’s terrifying.

The game will feature four player online co-op (think Left 4 Dead) allowing your friends in arms to conveniently come and go as they please. Players will have access to customizable vehicles and can customize their character. Similar to RPG’s like Diablo, slaughtered enemies will drop equipment which you can then equip yourself with… and fast. There will be 160 different quests with 30 being part of the story line and the rest being side quests.

Other things that will be randomly generated are things like bunkers, towers, caves and enemies hopefully making it truly worth your spending money as the fun might never stop.

A game play video that might just get your heart-pumping is down below or you can visit the official site here.

Borderlands is available for Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and the PC this October. We’ll keep you posted on the actual release date in Hong Kong.

HTC Hero: What You Need To Know About Buying One in Hong Kong

Buy one for full price or on contract today in Hong Kong!

htchero3 HTC Hero: What You Need To Know About Buying One in Hong Kong

It’s finally here! Today, marks Hong Kong’s long awaited availability date for the latest Android powered Smartphone: the HTC Hero. This beautiful device has had us, and Hong Kong gadget-lovers drooling for quite sometime. Some already have it via the Mong Kok Distribution System, for the rest of us here is the deal:

The phone definitely differs from its predecessors, the Dream and Magic. Engadget calls it “sleek and modern, it’s like the Magic was beamed to the year 3000 for a redesign. The casing is made of a soft-touch material (Teflon on the white version to prevent dirt), and the shape of the device takes a much more severe, almost rectangular slant.”

You can buy the Hero through regular electronics channels like Fortress and Broadway and pay the full price which is HK$4,480 or you can go the Smartone-Vodafone way, which of course is a contract package.

If you go the contract route, one of Smartone-Vodafone’s cooler features is its versatility by incorporating two modes to cater to you: In Town and Travel. The ‘In Town’ panel works like you would expect it too, offering 3 Internet-related panels such as Google Mobile services, Jetso, and FoneTV (the first mobile TV service for Android!) The “Travel” panel is for the person on-the-go. It quickly changes to offering multiple clocks and weather of home and current cities you’re in and traveling to. It also includes Travel Assist, Places Directory, Wikitude (a translator) and the Lonely Planet Travel Guide. And then don’t forget the Android Market for additional free and paid applications.

The Orb Transforms from Ring to Bluetooth Headset

Wednesday. 23 September. 2009. 9:36 am

Is it a ring, is it a bluetooth headset, or is it something else?

orb1 The Orb Transforms from Ring to Bluetooth Headset

Come January 2010, cleverly-disguised Bluetooth headsets will do more than make you wonder if the guy sitting next to you is talking to himself. Once a futuristic gadget called the Orb hits the markets, you might wonder why he’s talking to his wedding ring.

As a result of a partnership between Hybra Advance Technology and AbsolutelyNew, a whole new Bluetooth headset world is being explored. Designed to be worn around your finger like a ring when not in use, the Orb headset vibrates to indicate an incoming call. All you need to do is remove the ring, twist a hinge, and it sits comfortably over your ear, utilizing bone conduction audio technology to transmit sound without any part of the device entering your ear. The fully waterproof communications innovation is available in ring sizes 4-16.

The basic Orb model is scheduled to launch in January 2010, carrying a price tag of HK$1,000 (US$129). A deluxe edition coming in April will also be available, boasting a special Flexible Organic Light Emitting Diode (FOLED) screen for caller ID and other similar viewing functions! But that’s not all, there’s even a limited edition planned that comes with decorative gemstones—as if wearing a Bluetooth headset on your finger isn’t enough bling already!

HP DreamScreen Brings Slick Portability to Your Digital Media Collection

Tuesday. 22 September. 2009. 10:18 am

Sorry Steve, HP beat you to the “iTablet.”

hp dreamscreen HP DreamScreen Brings Slick Portability to Your Digital Media Collection

In the race to produce a beautiful tablet-like computer, Hewlett Packard has pulled ahead of Apple with its newly released DreamScreen. The DreamScreen is designed as a companion to the PC – a kind of mobile Internet device, rather than a stand-alone computer.

The DreamScreen acts like a cross between the iPhone and a digital photo-frame. They stream photos and music, play videos, and offer Facebook, Pandora and Snapfish support. Users can also drag and drop content from a networked computer to the screen. The Dreamscreen is not a touchscreen and does not have MultiTouch technology. Instead, it is navigated with a remote control or by buttons on the device itself. So Apple, you still have a selling point left!

DreamScreens can load content wirelessly (via 802.11 b/g wireless networking), though they do not have an internet browser function, so it seems to be designed more for consuming short bits of online content through the use of applications and widgets.

The DreamScreen is available in two sizes, DreamScreen 100 (10.2-inch screen) and the DreamScreen 130 (13.3-inch screen.) Both come stock with 2GB of built-in storage, and also include a  combo flash card reader and USB connectivity for more room.

The DreamScreen 100 is available today for HK$1,950 (US$250), while the DreamScreen 130 is expected to be available sometime this fall for HK$2,400 (US$300).
