AngelaBaby helps launch the newest Android phone in HK.
HTC has just launched the HTC Tattoo smartphone in Hong Kong. The lightweight Android 1.6 phone weighs in at 117 grams, has a 2.8 TFT LCD touch screen with a 240×320 resolution, a 3.2 megapixel camera and is the cheapest Android phone on the market, available today in Hong Kong for HK$2,998.
The Tattoo differentiates itself from the Magic and more recently the Hero as an entry level smartphone for the social media generation. If you are like us, you’re Facebooking, YouTubing and Twittering all at the same time AND you want to customize your phone casing then the Tattoo is the phone you are looking for. And as its Android it has all the Google goodness like maps, Gmail, Gtalk and access to Android Market where there are thousands of free and paid apps that you can install.
If you are an early bird buyer of the HTC Tattoo, you will be given 1 complimentary phone skin redemption card at selected stores and can redeem online here.
HTC is also launching a brand new ad campaign that will kick off on Hong Kong TV soon. Below is a bounty of photos from the launch event at The Mira hotel featuring Neonpunch’s newest girlfriend of the week – AngelaBaby:
Spotlight on HTC on the eve of their Tattoo launch in Hong Kong.
HTC launched the new Tattoo phone in Hong Kong today (full coverage tomorrow), and Neonpunch.com had a chance to sit down with HTC Country Manager Mr. Terry Chung to talk to him about the Tattoo, what’s coming up for HTC and Android 2.0:
Why a new HTC Android phone so soon after the launch of the Hero?
The Hero has been in the market for 2 months and we think the Android platform is very popular and accepted by the Hong Kong market so that is why we have launched a new handset into the market, which is centered at a different market and the price point is different as well. Tattoo is the first Android phone that is under HK$3,000.
What market are you going after with the Tattoo?
I think the young and stylish people. As you can see it has a user-define casing, and for the young generation who likes the social network device for using Facebook, Twitter and YouTube its a great device for them. The Hero has more business functions while the Tattoo is designed and priced purely with the new generation in mind.
I understand you can re-skin the Tattoo anyway you like?
We have a promotion with Garskin.com in Singapore, you can upload your personal design and within 1 month they will send that new skin to you. It’s free in Hong Kong to the first group of people who buy the Tattoo but you can use their service anytime.
With so much hype and buzz, how is the uptake of the Hero so far in Hong Kong?
Since we launched for 2 months, every week we are facing a supply shortage. Its really out of our plan and expectation that it can be so popular. So there are a few key reasons that it can be so popular in HK market: HTC Sense is more friendly and also the Android Market can also provide all kinds of applications.
Already been to Ocean Park? Try on these 3 scary movies.
We ran our Top Hallowe’en movies feature last year, but we’ve had a huge bump in visitors since then so we thought we’d revisit some of our choices and these 3 still do it for us. If you want to escape those mad crowds at Lan Kwai Fong or are just looking for ideas for your costume this year, you can’t go wrong with these 3 scary movies:
1. The Grudge
We close our look at modern horror movies with this freak-out from Japan: The Grudge (Ju-On). We remember seeing the trailer in the JP Cinema in Causeway Bay and the entire audience made more noise after those 2 minutes than the main feature (Matrix Revolutions) and while its not the best horror movie ever made, like The Ring, it will give you chills and thrills and images in your mind you won’t forget easily. We haven’t seen the U.S. version with Sarah Michelle Geller, but this Japanese one has enough scary moments to keep you on the edge of your seats. The spider girl and the creepy little kid looking up from the edge of your bed – are freakier than any Freddy Krueger or Jason.
Google updates its revolutionary OS to become more so.
You’ve been hearing alot about Google’s Android operating system for your mobile phone, and with Smartone-Vodafone and PCCW selling different versions of Android phone’s you are probably confused or not sold on changing over to this new device just yet.
Well Google has just announced Android 2.0 and it does even more than it has before. Have a look at the features, and read more about it here,
a visual guide is here and in the video above and let us know what you think.
Rain helps bring back this sorely-missed genre of martial arts film.
Ninja Assassin slices its way to Hong Kong in November from Warner Bros Hong Kong and its produced by the The Wachowski Brothers of The Matrix (not Speed Racer) fame.
While Rain will be a big draw for many, many moviegoers – we are more excited that hopefully some of the kung fu movie tricks the Wachowski’s learned on The Matrix movies will be upgraded here with director James McTeigue who was not only the Assistant Director on The Matrix trilogy but made the cool comic book movie V for Vendetta.
So here we go with what we had originally guessed (and guessed wrong) as the film version of the anime Ninja Scroll (we admit it) a much needed return to the ninja action genre with the kind of generic title of Ninja Assassin but I’m sure you will agree from the trailer it is anything but:
You can see the alternative movie poster below that we actually like better but maybe Rain’s naked back will sell more tickets in Hong Kong. But you don’t have to worry about that because next week we’ll start our lucky draw for FREE tickets to the Hong Kong premiere! Because these are going to be hot tickets we will be giving them away to Neonpunch Hitlist members only – so sign-up now.
Flash mobs, charity editions and Ella Koon usher in the new PC OS.
Microsoft Hong Kong released its new operating system Windows 7 in Hong Kong this past Saturday 24th of October. To celebrate they held a special launch event at Times Square, Causeway Bay. Neonpunch was there front row centre to document the event and the fact that the sexy Ella Koon官恩娜 was there to help promote the new operating system had nothing to do with our devoted attention to this operating system launch.
On hand to demonstrate the new operating system was the seven winners of the “Hong Kong Best Windows 7 Promoters” competition and Mr. Raymond Hung (Microsoft Hong Kong). The group showed a curious crowd of reporters and celebrity guest Ella Koon the unique features of Windows 7.
To help celebrate the event the software giant also held a special charity sale called “Windows 7 HK$377 Charity Offer Day” where 400 lucky people could buy the Windows 7 Ultimate Edition for the bargain price of HK$377 on a first-come, first-served basis. Plus, the first person in line also got an additional free limited Windows 7 Ultimate Edition autographed by Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft.
