Astro Boy’s Cinematic Return Owes It All to Hong Kong’s Imagi

Hong Kong’s Imagi who made the very cool recent CGI Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, is back at it again with a new license, one that everyone in Hong Kong will know: Astro Boy.
The business news is that Imagi was able to find new funding in these tough economic times to finish the film, and now they are preparing to release the film with an all-star American actor voice cast like Nicolas Cage as Dr. Tenma and Freddie Highmore as Astro – yes the little English kid who played Charlie in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Obviously, the Hong Kong version will feature more local celebs doing the voices. Andy Lau Tak-Wah (劉德華) as Dr. Tenma?
The film has now booked a October 8 October 23rd release date in Hong Kong. Official film site is here and you can check out the trailer below:
