Nikon Hong Kong launched its latest digital SLR camera, the D3S, to a fervor of pomp and circumstance at the first floor grand ballroom of the Nobu Intercontinental Hong Kong Hotel. There to promote the launch was celebrity offspring Jennifer Tse (parents Patrick Tse and Deborah Lee, both well-known HK entertainers and younger sister to local Actor/singer Nicholas Tse), and Raymond Lam.

The photographic work of Vincent Munier was used to show off the capabilities of the new D3S in a short video. If a picture can say a thousand words, than this short below says more than enough about the D3S:

By logging into www.smartone-vodafone.com/apps_select/, Smartone customers can use this website to properly check out new Android apps with Chinese reviews, videos on how the apps work, and a download helper that sends an SMS to your Android handset for you to easily download the app.

Although the Android Market only allows for free app downloads in Hong Kong, this initiative is being fueled by the huge demand Smartone is seeing from its customers.

In today’s press conference, Smartone-Vodafone CEO Mr. Douglas Li shared some impressive statistics on the Hong Kong smartphone scene:

Review: Ninja Assassin

Thursday. 26 November. 2009. 3:54 pm

Slice-and-dice cinema goes for the kill but misses every main artery.

ninjaassassin1 Review: Ninja Assassin

Its been a long time since ninjas at this level have graced the silver screens – ninja turtles notwithstanding – and it was a genre that mixed action with mystery, suspense and even horror. Ninja Assassin does its best to incorporate all these factors, but not to a satisfactory enough level to make it work.

Korean pop-star Rain plays Raizo, an orphan who has been raised by Shô Kosusgi (star of all the cool ninja movies in the 1980′s) to be a ninja that will be hired for 100 pounds of gold to governments around the world. Wow, great premise and bringing the ninja into to the 21st century. Through flashbacks we see how Raizo was trained to be a ninja in what turned out to be the better half of the film.

The first 5 minutes of the film gave us such hope and promise for a brutal and gory ninja movie that would take the shadow warriors to the same cinematic and special effects level like 300 took Spartan warriors.

We soooooo wanted to love this movie, but even with the guidance of the brothers behind The Matrix, Ninja Assassin falls on its own blade.
