If it isn’t the iPad 2 this is one misleading invitation!

The rumor mill has been churning overtime dishing out all kinds of guesses for the new iPad 2 Apple will reveal at Wednesday’s event.
Whatever it will be, we’ll be up at 1am Hong Kong time to time in to the live video stream to see what Tim Cook and company will be unveiling. So if you haven’t made your tablet purchase mind up, it will probably be set this coming Wednesday.
With the big event coming up in a few days we decided to wind back the clock all the way back to last July when the iPad was released in Hong Kong and show off some of the craziness that happened here with that launch.

A movie only 3 readers (and Intel) have seen, to kick off Friday!

So Apple has launched a new line of MacBook Pro’s! Yay! Hope you didn’t buy an old model in the past few weeks because these ones are so advanced that you probably won’t even get to use some of the functions for another 6 months.
Yes we’re talking about Thunderbolt (formerly Light Peak – which means that Intel are big fan of the 1974 Clint Eastwood and Jeff Bridges film Thunderbolt and Lightfoot) the new I/O port that will give the creative industry users (remember them?) more speed in transferring graphic designs, music and photos from device to device.
Are you buying a new Macbook Pro?

We ran a post last year guessing that IFC was the location but as that deadline has come and passed we’re starting to lose hope that it will happen there…and now have “a new hope” that you’ll be seeing Sogo from across the street of the Hong Kong Apple Store.

Is ‘The Daily’ the future of magazines or the past?

We’ve been reading the new iPad-only news magazine The Daily for the past couple of weeks and we thought we’d post this video walkthrough and our views on this new platform for reading magazines.
We’re going to skip the behind-the-scenes stuff as you can read about how much Rupert Murdoch spent to make it, the staff number and all that elsewhere. What we’re going to attempt to answer is: Is this the future of magazines and is it worth you spending money on?

Is this their deathbed or the future of their success?

You’ve no doubt heard about Nokia’s ‘Star Trek First Contact” strategy over the past weeks with the superphone company ditching their Symbian and MeeGo operating systems and going “all-in” with Microsoft and adopting their Windows Phone 7 OS to gain back their market share in the world market.
This is past “game changing” this is “life changing” – Nokia’s move decimates jobs, shakes up worldwide partnerships and erupts the playing field for smartphone OS dominance – for better or worse – forever. One thing for sure, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop is pulling some serious Jean-Luc Picard manuevers and he will be followed closely to see if his plan against the Borg other smartphone makers was the right one.
Now that you’ve no doubt been involved in many debates yourselves we want to hear what your thoughts on this: Is the iPhone doomed? Is Android over? Or has Nokia signed its own suicide note?
