Amazon.com Brings us The Kindle 2.0
Digital books takes another big jump into the mainstream.

The book-selling giant Amazon.com announced last Monday their newest gadget, the second-generation Kindle 2. This amazing ebook-reader is less than 1cm thick and weighs only 289 grams.
Don’t be fooled by its amazingly thin size, as this gadget is packed with useful features. This thing is equipped with a 2GB hard-drive. That’s about 1500 ebooks! On the front of the screen is a large 6″ anti-glare screen that looks and works just like normal paper, except that the ink is distributed electronically in the electronic-ink display. This will make sure that it’s just as easy to read, if not easier, than normal books. Also, if you ever come across a word you don’t know while reading, you can use the built-in dictionary to look up the words’ meanings! Finally, if you’re ever tired of reading, you can let Kindle read it aloud to you!
Kindle 2 is not only a great book reader. It is armed with 3G technology. That’s right, no more searching for Wi-Fi hot-spots to go onto the Internet. You can browse the Internet, send emails, do word processing, and do everyday things all on this little amazing piece of technology. This gadget even acts as a MP3 player. You can transfer quickly all your music with the included USB cable. Now, you can listen to your favorite music in the background while reading anything from books, newspapers, magazines, to even personal documents! The only thing it doesn’t do is make phone calls and coffee.
Kindle 2 is scheduled to release on February 24, 2009 in North America. The official release date for Hong Kong has not been released yet, but we estimate that it will be soon after the release in the U.S. This gadget will be on sale for US$359/ HK$2800, books cost extra.
