Android Hits 10,000 Apps in Less Than One Year
Have you browsed the Android Marketplace lately?

Google’s Android OS, while not as sexy as the Apple iPhone, is still able to count 10,000 applications in the Android Marketplace since its opening on October 22, 2008.
While the iPhone has north of 70,000 apps in the iTunes App store, the Android platform will be growing in number over the next 12 months as more mobile phone manufacturers bring Android phones to market.
Smartone-Vodafone has brought 3 HTC Android phones to Hong Kong right now so we hope to see more Hong Kong apps for this platform while its building its userbase.
According to this report the Android Marketplace has grown 4.4 times in the last 4 months and that’s without alot of hype and Apple fanboy push that the iPhone gets.
What we think about Android is this:
We love it. Its not as sexy as the iPhone in terms of its smooth glossy icons, and of course the iPhone has 7 times more apps but there if you are a Google user (GMail, Google Docs) then you might want to consider an Android phone.
We’ve only played with the G1 for an extensive amount of time but since that was the first one we were still impressed with its ease of use and responsiveness. The camera is great, it had copy-and-paste from day 1 and its integration with Google and its products is amazing.
Its definitely our second pick after the iPhone even having played with the Palm Pre and Nokia’s N97 and we won’t even mention the current version of Windows Mobile. We’re going to get the HTC Hero and see how the HTC Sense OS improves on the basic Android OS or bogs it down.
Do you have an Android phone? What do you think?
