Brutal Legend is an action-adventure game being developed by Double Fine Productions for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. The game stars the comedic talents of Jack (School of Rock, Tropic Thunder) Black who you may also know as half of the greatest rock band the world has ever seen: Tenacious D. The game looks to be a mixture of old-school heavy metal combined with new concepts and a sense of humor and is absolutely jam-packed full of an amazing rock songs. In addition to quirky hi-jinx.

Tim Schafer, the game’s creative director who is known best for his days at LucasArts creating games like The Secret of Monkey Island and Full Throttle, said he was inspired to create the game from his own past musical experiences. The game will feature a character named Eddie Riggs (the character Jack Black voices), a roadie who is plunged into a fantasy world inspired by the artwork of heavy metal album covers. Of course, Eddie becomes the hero. He uses his trusty weapon…the magical Flying V guitar and eventually gets a hot rod. The game will also feature voices from various heavy metal musicians such as Lemmy Kilmister, Rob Halford, Ozzy Osbourne and Lita Ford and other celebrities such as Tim Curry. The game uses an open world which is approximately 64km in area. Lots of room to kill demons in and metal tunes to rock out to!

The game is scheduled to be released in Rocktober 2009 in Hong Kong and you can see the ads starting to show up around Hong Kong now as it’s one of the bigger EA games that isn’t a sports game. While you wait for the second coming, gasp in awe at the official site here and some of the gameplay videos below:
