It’s been a while since anyone has played around with a pair of video glasses; Sony Hong Kong is making an attempt at this niche electronics market with a new 3D-compatible head mounted display, the HMZ-T1.

This “Personal 3D Viewer” offers a spectacular new style of viewing of both 2D and 3D content in the comfort of any room in your home, with the visual and audio experiences of being in a movie theatre.

The HMZ-T1 is equipped with the newly developed 0.7-inch (diagonal 18.0mm) high-definition (HD) OLED (1280 x 720) panel, which has been realized through Sony’s unique expertise in both OLED display and semiconductor silicon drive technologies. The HMZ-T1 adopts the ‘dual panel 3D method’, which consists of separate panels for the left eye and right eye respectively, unlike other 3D image display methods. With its own dedicated 3D video for the left and right eyes, viewers are now able to enjoy high-resolution 3D video that is natural, bright and extremely pure with zero crosstalk.
Incorporating Sony’s proprietary 5.1ch Virtual Surround Technology that was developed especially for headphones, the equivalent of a maximum 5.1ch multi-channel audio can be experienced, adding to the effect of the viewer being virtually present in the cinema theatre.

Compatible with various 3D products including, 3D Blu-ray Disc players, PlayStation®3 and VAIO notebooks with Blu-ray Disc drive.

Our pick of the Movie of 2010 is Christopher Nolan’s dream-heist film Inception. A fantastic film that deserves multiple viewings to full understand the nuances of the script and what better way than to watch it on your brand new Blu-ray player you got for Christmas. We got a copy of the Limited Edition box set and wanted to snap some photos to share what you get inside the metal case.

Alongside the 2-disc Blu-ray with DVD version (We just got this box set for Christmas from Canada hence the French name “Origne”) and downloadable iTunes digital copy you also get a set of postcards, The Cobol Job comic – which is free in PDF format at Yahoo! with a motion comics version of it on the Blu-ray, a booklet on the PASIV (Portable Automated Somnacin IntraVenous) device (the stuff inside the case that encourages sleep) and of course Dom Cobb’s totem – the top – next to an embossing of 6 numbers which you will know if you’ve seen the movie and probably mean even more to deciphering the plot if they went through the trouble to emboss it so prominently.

Also included in these photos is the Inception Shooting Script book - which did not come with the Blu-ray but that we received from Warner Bros. – its a great book in itself and might help you understand the dream world rules a bit easier as you read it written down. The book also comes with some color concept art. We believe a different special edition on the Blu-ray also comes with the script if you want to get a copy of it.

The mini PASIV box is impressive and its probably a must buy for the top alone. The Blu-ray does not contain any definitive answers to the movie: so don’t buy it if you’re looking for some. There is no director commentary, or insight from the actors – there are making of snippets but thats about it. We usually buy these special edition discs for all the background and behind-the-scenes stuff because we love learning how they make the films, but this one is pretty bare-bones and while you must own the film on Blu-ray you can get away with the single disc version unless you’re madly love the film like we are.

At least you’ll be able to see it in the next 30 days at least.

Crushing news to Scott Pilgrim fans, Edko Films have decided NOT to release the Scott Pilgrim Vs The World theatrically in Hong Kong citing it as a difficult film to market. Chalk it up laziness or that even the U.S. had a tough time to market it, either way Micheal Cera fans will have to wallow in their milkshakes this time.

BUT there is hope: Scott Pilgrim is surely one film that will be watched over and over by fans at home and by the looks of what’s on the DVD and Blu-ray, the movie itself is not the only thing worth laying down your hard-earned cash for, come its release date of November 9th.

You saw the R2D2 Android phone because of the Star Wars Celebration going on in the U.S., and here’s the next big news: all 6 of the Star Wars movies are finally coming to Blu-ray in Fall 2011.

Ok yes, lets all groan about how Episode 1, 2 and 3 being crap and who would want them on Blu-ray – but then, just suddenly, almost as if he had been keeping this a secret for over 20 years – George Lucas goes and shows that he hasn’t completely lost it by unearthing probably the most amazing 30 seconds of any movie fans life that was cut from Return of the Jedi:

Well the real question is why the hell wasn’t this in the original movie? Its a key moment like when Bruce Wayne finds the Batcave, when Peter Parker spins his first web or when Tony Stark comes out of the cave with the Mark 1 armor on – even as kids seeing it in the cinema the first time there always seemed to be something missing between the Degobah death scene and the Rebel Alliance reunion/attack plan.

Anyways, we glazed over this news until we ran into this clip and just like the guy who filmed it – we too are screaming “WOO-HOOOO!”

Hallowe’en comes early this year, as one of the craziest nazi zombie movies ever made is available on Blu-ray today: Dead Snow.

As far as zombie movies go we’re going to put this one high up on the list of all time greats like Shaun of the Dead and Army of Darkness because it’s so over the top and insane! You can see the 66% fresh rating at RottenTomatoes or the 61% on MetaCritic, but basically you’ll know if you need to buy it from this clip below:

There are only a few things that gets Neonpunch hot and bothered, and one of them is the bodacious Chrissie Chau!

The sexy Hong Kong model who has catapulted to the celebrity A-List, and can be frequently seen in numerous ad campaigns, was one of the main highlights at this year’s Asian Game Show X Online Game Show.

Chrissie could be seen on the first and second day of the AGS X OGS (24th and 25th December) promoting her new Blu-Ray swimsuit video “Eyescream Fiesta” and “ColouRevolution 2010” calendar. Hardcore fans who bought the video and calendar were able to queue up to get Chrissie’s autograph, while other ecstatic fans crowded the stage with their cameras ready to get a snapshot of their goddess.

Luckily, Neonpunch had a front row seat to the whole affair and was able to get some pictures of Hong Kong’s most popular model that we are sure you will all appreciate for their tasteful and artistic beauty…until you can get your own copy of her Blu-ray and calendar that is!

The Blu-Ray video runs for 49 minutes and contains several scenes that show a nubile Chrissie in an assortment of bikinis frolicking on the beach. One scene shows a bikini clad Chrissie licking a soft serve ice-cream cone. Towards the end of the scene, the doe-eyed Chrissie has ice-cream dribbling down from her mouth to her chin. As for the calendar, it contains similar like images that will make any man’s heart skip a beat.

The Blu-Ray disc of Eyescream Fiesta retails for a HK$190, while Chrissie’s ColouRevolution 2010 calendar retails for HK$78. Those of you who weren’t able to go to the AGS X OGS can try hunting them down in Mong Kok, if they aren’t available in HMV or HK Records.

This may be the weirdest combo ever created, but Universal Studios Home Entertainment is going to start releasing their moves on discs that have a DVD version of their movie on one side, and a Blu-ray version on the other.

If you have a Blu-ray player, we can’t imagine you’d ever want to see a standard-def movie ever again. We’re guessing it’s for people who have yet to buy a Blu-ray, and is getting them ready so that when they do upgrade, they won’t have to buy all their movies all over again. When you see this kind of product coming out, it must mean that Blu-rays need more of a push past the limited early adopter market.

An industry first, the new “flipper” discs will launch on January 19, 2010 with the blockbuster superspy thrillers The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, premiering as individually packaged Blu-ray discs.

Each side of Universal’s flipper discs includes the entire movie as well as all available bonus features, with the Blu-ray side featuring exciting BD exclusives such as U-Control and BD-Live.

The BDP-S360 Blue-Ray player is already selling at authorized Sony dealers for its suggested retail price of only HK$2,380. The other two home theatre systems are going to be released in September, with their retail prices not revealed yet. The Summer isn’t even over yet and the release dates for the movies on home video are starting to come in. If you enjoyed the new J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie that made US$375 worldwide and starring Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto as Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock then you’re in for a treat on November 17th, and we don’t mean just the discs:

With the packaging feature dubbed “augmented reality,” consumers will be able to hold their disc packaging in front of any standard webcam to unlock an interactive hologram on the computer screen, through which they can tour five cabins on the Enterprise, even shooting enemies from the ship’s deck.

Users will have to log in to a website to access the feature, but they control the hologram by holding the disc packaging.
