Bring the newest James Bond movie home in 3 versions.
Fans of the latest James Bond movie “Quantum of Solace” can look forward to March 24th for the release date of the movie on home video.
There will be a regular and 2-disc version on DVD and a Blu Ray version. The only extra material on the 1-disc release will be an “Another Way to Die” Music Video, and theatrical trailers. The 2-disc DVD and Blu-ray releases will include all of that, along with a 24-minute Bond on Location feature, additional featurettes (Start of Shooting, On Location, Olga Kurylenko and the Boat Chase, Director Marc Forster, The Music), and crew files. You can see the other covers here.
Some loved it, some hated it, but if you haven’t heard it, here is the Jack White and Alicia Keys theme song “Another Way to Die”:
Yes, it’s a double dip but you knew it was coming, Mr. Bond.
In anticipation for Quantum of Solace, the new James Bond movie that opens in Hong Kong on November 6th (yes a full week before the U.S. for once.) the first Daniel Craig as 007 movie Casino Royale was spotted at HMV last week in a new 3-disc “Collector’s Edition” DVD and 2-disc Blu-ray.
We loved Casino Royale so much we bought the Blu-ray as one of the first to enter our Blu-ray library, but even then the specs on this new version might make it worth the while with 7 additional hours of behind-the-scenes footage and more for the movie geek.
Angelina will twist bullets in your home in no fewer than 6 versions.
IGN has the details on the December release of the Wanted DVD and Blu-ray. The movie did pretty well at the box office even though it really deviated from its comic book origins with the “Loom of Destiny” but it has a nice nude shot of Angie’s butt, so we’ll bite.
Along with the usual special features, the Blu-ray version is getting even more. Some highlights:
Alternate Opening – View this exclusive alternate opening, only on Blu-ray Hi-Def.
Exclusive U-Control: Universal’s exclusive signature feature U-Control allows viewers to delve into the making of the film with the click of the remote without ever leaving the movie.
Wanted: Motion Comics: See how the graphic novel compares to the movie in this real-time, side-by-side BD exclusive
Scene Explorer: Explore the onscreen action from up to three different perspectives in this multi-angle feature.
Assassins Profile: Get the high-tech low-down on each assassin’s strengths, weapons, and position with your own in-movie surveillance system.
Picture in Picture: Access cast and crew interviews and behind-the-scenes moments while you watch the film.
My Wanted Commentary: Connect and Create. Ever wish you could create your own play-by-play movie commentary to share with friends? Here’s your chance. UniversalHiDef.com and the BD-Live Center combine to offer you the opportunity to create your own video, audio, or text commentary that you can share with all of your Buddies in the BD-Live community.
Wow that sounds pretty intereactive and really taking the home video experience to the next level. The Wanted Blu-ray has a street date of December 2 in the U.S., so that means expect it in mid-November in Hong Kong. We’ll report back when we have final Hong Kong prices.
UPDATE OCT. 19: We saw a UK no-frills version out this week at HMV for HK$185. No special features, just a standard DVD for the UK market so if you can’t wait you can check it out now.
New box-set packaging makes you forget about ‘Reloaded’ & ‘Revolutions.’
Just in time for Christmas from Warner Bros: all The Matrix films and 4 extra Blu-ray discs in this massively amazing package. Its for Japan only, but since its from Hot Toys there must be some exclusive pieces available here. But at Y39,800 (approx. HK$3,000) you will really have to either have loved the sequels or you want to have a really big case to hold just the first movie.
The best movie of 2008 already available in Hong Kong.
One of the great things about piracy in Asia, is that is has forced the big companies to release movies and home video releases at the same time, if not earlier, as in the U.S. That means bragging rights for all you Hong Kong fanboys.
Neonpunch’s pick for best movie of 2008 – Iron Man – is now out on DVD and Blu-ray in Hong Kong. Yes, a whole week before it hits any Wal-Mart or Amazon.com mailbox in the US, and its the full and real deal. So head out onto the streets to pick it up and make sure you get the 2-disc set with special features and more Robert Downey Jr. than you can handle.
We did some quick comparative shopping out there for you and we found a big difference in prices for the 2-disc DVD:
HMV: HK$319
Hong Kong Records: HK$298
Any DVD shop in Mong Kok: HK$255
That’s of course no surprise that MK is the cheapest but that’s a big difference. But some of us just can’t wait to go to Kowloon side and a movie like Iron Man demands full price and beyond for its sheer awesomeness.
