We were in Macau recently to attend the Top Marques Macau Supercar show and brought back this gallery of photos.

If you haven’t attended, and are a car enthusiast, then you need to prepare to jump over to Macau to check this show out next year – which also featured luxury watches, property and art into the mix.

Sure, it’s a show for rich people to show off that they can buy really expensive and fast metal; but for the admirer of automobile design you won’t find another chance to see some of these cars up close like Conquest Knight XV which looked like Batman’s new ride, The new version of Speed Racer’s Mach 5 car in the Koenigsegg Agrea R or the 2013 Tuatara which looks like one of the Autobots had sex with .

Porsche unveiled two new additions to the four-door Gran Turismo family in Hong Kong; the new Panamera S Hybrid and the new Panamera Turbo S.

When BMW gets into the electric car game they don’t go in halfway!

Recently unveiled in Frankfurt, comes not 1 but 2 visions of the future from the BMW Group. The BMW i3 Concept is due out in 2013 and is the first electrically powered car with the BMW i8 Concept pictured above as a performance hybrid coming out in 2014.

The i3 has a fully electric motor that produces 170-hp translating to an acceleration of 0 to 62 mph in under 8 seconds. The i8 is a plug-in hybrid and has similar speed and interior dynamics.

Another point of interest is that BMW has set up a US$100 million venture fund to invest in companies that are developing mobility solutions. It’s already invested in MyCityWay a company that makes location-based city guidebook apps and will probably be looking to invest in more that cover similar ground. An innovative way of doing marketing instead of buying TV spots and billboards.

Last week Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong unveiled not one but two new class of cars, the new SLK-Class and C-Class Coupé, that will have you pondering which one to get and cursing the famed German car maker for putting you between a rock and a hard place.

The all new SLK offers a sleek design along with comfort and an innovative technology of the Magic Sky Control which alternates the glass roof between a translucent to an opaque state in an instant. The new generation C-Class Coupé aims to deliver a sporty design and a high quality finish, combined with a unique drive system, BlueEFFICIENCY, which manages to provide tremendous performance and exemplary fuel economy.

Mercedes-Benz held a press launch in the afternoon, followed by a launch party in the evening at the Grand Hall at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. At the press launch, celebrities Bosco Wong and Fala Chen led the unveiling ceremony to unveil the new SLK-Class and C-Class Coupé cars.

Do you feel the need for speed?

If you do, you’ll find it at The Repulse Bay which is opening a new Auto Italia – the authorised importer and distributor for Ferrari and Maserati in Hong Kong and Macau – flagship car brand centre at The Garage, 60 Repulse Bay Road.

The Ferrari and Maserati car brand centre will span two floors and cover approximately 19,000 square feet, making it the largest of Auto Italia facilities in Hong Kong as well as The Repulse Bay’s largest tenant.

Renovations are underway and Auto Italia Ltd expects to open its new flagship car brand centre at The Garage this Autumn. The new car brand centre will be open for seven days a week from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.

The luxury car market is heating up in Hong Kong as new showrooms are opening up all over town – like the upcoming new Rolls Royce showroom in Wan Chai – and with traffic congestion getting worse in our fair city at least you’ll be able to sit in it in style.

McLaren Automotive’s debut high-end, high-performance sports car, the MP4-12C, has been revealed in Hong Kong for the first time. The highly anticipated model from the British manufacturer was unveiled last week at a special event for VIPs and media at the Shaw Studios in Tseung Kwan O.

This is a pretty amazing looking car that will be available at the Sime Darby showrooms in Hong Kong. To give you an idea on price, the MP4-12C will be sold at a price of £168,500 in the United Kingdom, and $229,000 for the US market.

The MP4-12C is the first production car wholly designed and built by McLaren since the McLaren F1 (almost 10 years ago), which for a long time held the record for the fastest production car in the world.

This two-seat, mid-engine model features a one-piece, carbon-fibre chassis structure, the carbon MonoCell. It is the first time a car has featured a one-piece, carbon-fibre structure.

The 12C is equipped with a bespoke McLaren 3.8-litre, V8 twin-turbo engine producing around 600 bhp, and driven through a unique McLaren seven-speed, Seamless Shift, dual-clutch gearbox (SSG). And when it comes to CO2 emissions per horsepower, the MP4-12C is even more efficient than a hybrid car.

Ian Gorsuch, McLaren Automotive’s Regional Director for the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific, said:

“We are thrilled to finally present the MP4-12C to the Hong Kong market. When it comes to high performance sports cars, customers in the Hong Kong are exceptionally well-informed and passionate. There has already been great interest in the 12C in the market, and we are all looking forward to the car going on sale here in late 2011.

Sime Darby will start selling the 12C from late 2011. Additionally, Sime Darby will host a fully equipped official service centre that is staffed by technicians who have received full technical training at McLaren’s headquarters in the UK.

What’s going on in France? First we saw a Pac-Man live-action video, and now we see Mario dropping real banana peels into the street. Seeing how bad Speed Racer did we don’t expect to see a Wacky Races or a Mario Kart movie coming anytime soon, so until everyone in Hollywood forgets we’ll have this:
