While we may still be buttoning up our wardrobe, fashion house Club Monaco wants us to start clearing some space for some new Spring clothes. Neonpunch got to take a early look at the new Spring line and take a few photos.

The designers over at Club Monaco have also kindly separated their designs into January, February, and March just to make things a little easier for those of us who are a little obsessive compulsive. You’ll also find a range of accessories to go with their new Spring line so you don’t have to walk all over Central to look for a matching belt or tie.

January

The couture for the first month of spring has an outdoors Californian cool style in washed wool peacoats, patterned sweater blazers and thicker knit chinos, accenting his rugged side with distressed leather accessories.

February

This leap year month (2012 is a leap year) portrays a rustic naval yard atmosphere in striped cotton club polos, frayed washed wool peacoats, and distressed slim chinos. Shirting is washed, pressed but not starched, shown in a new refined, effortless style.

March

As things start to get a little warmer it’s about time for sun bleached chinos, washed and undone oxford shirts, and light weight cotton jackets. Formal suiting is separated; the khaki blazer is paired with frayed cotton shorts, while the tailored pant is faded and washed with easy warm knits.

For Spring Summer 2012, Gieves & Hawkes pays tribute to English summers and classic British tailoring, but with a modern and colourful twist.

Inspired by the Isle of Wight, home to the Cowes Week, which is the longest-running annual regatta in the world, Gieves & Hawkes takes a nautical turn this season. The palette of navy blue, bright red, crisp white, and yellow highlights echoes the sailing theme as do such nautical details like the bold stripes and exclusively designed Gieves & Hawkes anchor logo patches that can be seen throughout the collection.

Ralph Lauren’s newest diffusion line, Denim & Supply, is a more sophisticated, grown-up line than their casual sporty Ralph Lauren Polo Jeans brand, and is set to hit Hong Kong soon.

Designed to tap into a more contemporary market than the rest of Ralph Lauren’s offshoots (and with more affordable prices to match), Denim & Supply has a hipster vintage Americana vibe that is more cool than preppy.

Inspired by ‘the warehouse and artist communities of Brooklyn’ (whatever that means!), the clothes have a rustic bohemian feel, with an emphasis on lived-in looks and distressed denim.

The first collection is filled with chunky cable-knit sweaters, ripped denim jeans in flattering fits, washed-out tees and faded lumberjack shirts. The overall look is comfy, cozy and casual, yet still poised and put-together which has left us lusting for autumn’s arrival already!

It used to be people came to Hong Kong to take a ferry ride, taste some dim sum or just soak up some of that colonial charm, but now it seems that people come for just one reason: shopping!

The absence of taxes on luxury goods in our little enclave of laissez-faire capitalism mean that if you’re heading home without a new Louis Vuitton you’ve obviously made some kind of mistake.  The best shoppers in Hong Kong are, without a doubt, the Mainland Chinese, so we’ve followed them to one of Hong Kong’s most mega malls, Elements Mall, to see what the must-have items are this season.

It’s time to stop resisting the trend and get your man purse on. As far as we can tell everyone will be returning home with an LV messenger bag this season.  If you are going to get one this is certainly the one to get, the Louis Vuitton Bass GM monogram macassar canvas messenger bag.  The stylish accessory is sleek and large enough to hold what you need and not be mistaken for a purse.  Judging from the crowds make sure you spring for the monogram so everyone knows exactly who it’s by.

Altiplano Watch by Piaget

Hong Kong is the undisputed land of the luxury watch.  What people wear on their wrist here usually costs more than their car.  Coming home from Hong Kong everyone will expect you to be sporting something extra special on your wrist. Every major watch brand is well represented here but we are especially taken with the Altiplano by Piaget. We know that it is tempting to spring for the biggest clunkiest timepiece money can buy but reconsider.  The Altiplano is advertised as the thinnest watch in the world and novelty aside this watch is a real beauty. Hong Kong has always been famous for its suits.  The best option is to have one hand tailored for you (check out Hong Kong’s best tailors here), but if you don’t have the time or are looking for something with a little more name recognition head straight to Ermenegildo Zegna.  This renowned Milanese fashion house crafts some of the nicest suits in the world and a suit from them is definitely at the top of every fashion-savvy Hong Kong yan’s must-have list. Nothing completes a closet like a timeless navy Zegna suit.

Paul Smith is pleased to announce the opening of the first dedicated Jeans shop in Hong Kong, located in Festival Walk.

The shop design in typical Paul Smith style mixes classic with modern; mixing items Paul has sourced from his travels with bright, modern materials and images.

Paul’s love of form and architecture can be seen in the “shed within a building” concept which dominates the space. The structure of a shed made from various kinds of timber has been erected above the grey cement flooring. The Jeans collection is housed within this wood structure which features brightly coloured metal brackets.

Images of clouds, taken from an aeroplane provide a soft, dreamlike backdrop in the women¡¯s area of the shop.

A combination of 1960′s French dining chairs and English bent plywood chairs designed by Isokan in London in the 1950′s feature throughout the shop.

Remember the days when you could get away with smoking in the office with a stiff drink – during office hours? Well, you still can’t but at least you can look like you do with Banana Republic’s new Mad Men collection.

Janie Bryant, Mad Men’s Emmy award-winning costume designer, has collaborated with Simon Kneen, the creative director behind Gap’s sister store Banana Republic, to create this 65-piece line that boasts the best of the swingin’ ’50s and ’60s aesthetic. That means nipped-in waists, structured dresses and old-school femininity for the ladies, and sharp tailoring and movie-matinee idol looks for the men.

The collection is available on BananaRepublic.Gap.com with prices ranging between USD$50 to USD$375 for clothing, and accessories at even cheaper prices (we particularly love the leopard print handbags and scarves which set the look off perfectly.)

There was a time, years ago, when the mere mention of Hong Kong conjured images of fine bespoke suits and shirts in the minds of even the most discerning clotheshorses.

The best part, these perfectly constructed suits came cheap, real cheap and no self-respecting tourist would not return home dressing better than he could afford anywhere else.

Unfortunately, times have changed. Now, all that seems to be left of Hong Kong’s tailoring reputation are the hundreds of touts harassing us with promises of cheap suits every time we walk down Nathan Road. So, is fine affordable tailoring really dead in the fragrant harbor? Recently, we have discovered that it is not.  The age-old traditions of fine craftsmanship and customer service still live on here in ways that can’t be found anywhere else in the world. You just need to know where to look.

WW Chan & Sons Tailor

Every self-respecting bespoke-fan has heard of these guys but their reputation is well deserved. Founded in 1952, WW Chan is one of the last surviving tailoring lineages with ties to Shanghai’s famed “red gang” tailors.

More than just a great suit WW Chan gives you the opportunity to have the classic Hong Kong suit making experience, with hands on personal costumer service and a fiercely loyal following of return costumers. WW Chan is renowned for their wide selection of fine fabrics but they are also one of the least affordable option in this list. So, if you can afford it, stop by and check it out. You won’t leave disappointed.

Edward Tam at E. Italia Tailors

Ask any well-suited expat or even hit the web and the name of Mr. Edward Tam is sure to come up. Mr. Tam’s prices are more affordable than WW Chan & Sons but his craftsmanship and collection of hi-end materials are about the same.

Probably the best reason to visit is Mr. Tam himself. While other tailors in the area are all about getting customers in and out as fast as possible, Edward is friendly, hands on and extremely knowledgeable about the bespoke process. In fact, the only complaint from his devoted customers is that it can be a little tough getting a word in edge-wise. And, we hear that for return customers he might even be willing to lower the price a little. Plus, Edward Tam is the favorite tailor of respected style blog Permanent Style.

A-Man Hing Cheong Co.

This is the most expensive option on our list  (although comparable with WW Chan) with suits ranging from HK$7,000 – HK$15,000.

Fittingly it is located in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Just because it is in a hotel doesn’t mean you should dismiss it as a tourist trap; the original A-Man Hing Cheong was actually founded in 1898 on Queen’s Road Central. With customers including the likes of former British governor Chris Patten, and taipan Henry Keswik it is no surprise that many old-school Hong Kong yan consider A-Man Hing Cheong the best tailor in the colony.
