The PowerShot G12 blasts into Hong Kong.

Canon celebrates the 10th anniversary of their line of Power Shot G cameras with the all new and upgraded G12. A top of the IFC Mall at The Box, Canon Hong Kong unveiled the new camera that has some nice upgrades that will give photo enthusiasts a little more “Ummpf.”Neonpunch enjoyed a lovely afternoon at The Box which made for a very delightful change from the dreary grey Canon studio walls were the camera maker usually hosts their product launches. The weather was nice to boot as well.
Among the most noticeably new things to the G12 is a new control dial added on the camera front. The dial enables users to adjust their own settings quickly and easily, combined with the camera body’s control dials, aperture value, shutter speed, ISO, exposure compensation, manual focus, white balance, aspect ratio, dynamic range correction and shadow correction can be customized.

Entry level DSLR with a nice price.

Nikon launched the new D3100 in Hong Kong last Friday and its being touted as their entry-level DX-formate SLR camera.
Basically if you are scared of all the buttons and knobs that a DSLR has but want the power but not the complexity this is the camera Nikon made for you as its got a “guide mode” as well as HD movie recording.
Its lightweight at only 455 g (body only) and provides great performance at a suggested retail price of HK$4,380 and HK$5,480 for the kit that includes a 15-55MM F3.5-5.6 lens.

Will you be shooting like James Cameron or Tim Burton?

Sony Hong Kong is launching a line of new Cyber-shot cameras next month in Hong Kong that allow you to take panoramic photos with 3D style.
We took the Tx-9 for a spin today and its very easy to use but of course your 3D results may vary. All you have to do is click a button to prepare it for 3D panorama and then swing it around like you would when you shoot a panorama camera – then a few seconds it will stitch the photo together so when you twist your wrists it will create a lenticular effect with what you just shot.

Apparently it takes more than the lens to make a great photo.

This fashion photoshoot by Lee Morris has been circulating the Internet not because of the sexy model, or the technique but because it was shot using an iPhone 3GS.
He was going to start with an Olympus camera as the worst camera he could find until someone throws him an iPhone 3GS – while we love our iPhone the camera is definitely one of the sore spots (but looks to be fixed with the iPhone 4)
The process is the same as using a fancy high-end SLR camera: hair and make-up, lighting, wind machine but when Morris adds a piece of velcro to the back of the iPhone and sticks the other side to his tripod you know things are going to get interesting.
