Crushing news to Scott Pilgrim fans, Edko Films have decided NOT to release the Scott Pilgrim Vs The World theatrically in Hong Kong citing it as a difficult film to market. Chalk it up laziness or that even the U.S. had a tough time to market it, either way Micheal Cera fans will have to wallow in their milkshakes this time.

BUT there is hope: Scott Pilgrim is surely one film that will be watched over and over by fans at home and by the looks of what’s on the DVD and Blu-ray, the movie itself is not the only thing worth laying down your hard-earned cash for, come its release date of November 9th.

The Summer isn’t even over yet and the release dates for the movies on home video are starting to come in. If you enjoyed the new J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie that made US$375 worldwide and starring Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto as Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock then you’re in for a treat on November 17th, and we don’t mean just the discs:

With the packaging feature dubbed “augmented reality,” consumers will be able to hold their disc packaging in front of any standard webcam to unlock an interactive hologram on the computer screen, through which they can tour five cabins on the Enterprise, even shooting enemies from the ship’s deck.

Users will have to log in to a website to access the feature, but they control the hologram by holding the disc packaging.

4. Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series

The entire 4-season run of the new re-imagined Battlestar Galactica – one of the best sci-fi TV shows ever – comes out on July 28th and it comes in this funky cylon head box packaging. While the cylon eye doesn’t light up it does feature 25 discs and enough robot-human love to warrant the US$279 pricetag that comes down to HK$1,420 with a nice 35% discount at Amazon.com

5. Planet of the Apes; The Ultimate DVD Collection

Last buy not least this Planet of the Apes collection. These movies have come out in so many different versions that its hard to keep track, but you definitely won’t forget this DVD box set that comes in a giant Monkey head with real hair and cloth outfit!
