The Wait is Over: God of War III Desecrates Hong Kong

Thursday. 11 March. 2010. 9:22 am
March 16, 2010

On Tuesday all our prayers will be answered.

Forget the English version of Final Fantasy XIII, this is the game for March 2010: God of War III for the Playstation 3 is coming on March 16th for HK$388.

You’ve no doubt played the intensely gory demo on the Playstation Network, so now its time to see how much further than gouging out Cyclops’ eyes this game goes. Hard to believe this is the fifth and final chapter in the current story arc, chronologically after God of War: Chains of Olympus, God of War, God of War: Betrayal, and God of War II. God of War III, thankfully (and obviously), will not be the last God of War game of the series.

Machinima.com gave it 10/10 already! So with this kind of early buzz and the legions of fans who’ve been waiting for this new installment, if Facebook and Twitter get quiet for awhile, you’ll know where all your friends!

The iPad Truly Cometh: April 3rd

Monday. 8 March. 2010. 11:11 am
April 3, 2010

Apple has stamped the date for the iPad launch.

Apple has announced pre-orders open up on March 12th for the Next Coming (also known as the iPad) and will be available to the public on April 3rd.

As history dictates, we in Hong Kong who are a mere 45-minutes away by car from the factories in Shenzhen that are making the iPad, will no doubt have to wait at least 2 weeks or more to see the WiFi version and perhaps longer for the 3G version.

In the meantime, we can only savor the new TV commercial…for now:

‘Clash of the Titans’ Brings More 3D to Hong Kong

Thursday. 25 February. 2010. 10:21 am
April 1, 2010

The stop-motion classic gets a massive 3D overhaul on April 1st.

Even if you don’t remember Harry Hamlin’s Perseus fighting stop-motion monsters like Medusa, Calibos and The Kraken, it doesn’t matter because it all changes on April 1st, 2010 with the new 3D version of Clash of the Titans.

Even with Percy Jackson beating it out by a month or so, because of the decision to add in 3D effects, Clash of the Titans was the ultimate Greek god/monster movie in 1981 – and now with Avatar’s Jake Sully Sam Worthington in the lead as Perseus, Liam Neeson as Zeus, Ralph Fiennes as Hades  and directed by Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier can only be excited to see how the effects sharpen up this remake.

Namco Bandai Games is developing a Clash of the Titans game for Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3 as well. Keep your eyes peeled for a possible movie ticket giveaway and get ready to clash once again on April 1st.

For your enjoyment the original trailer is below, we hope they keep Bubo, the mechanical owl sidekick in the new version:

Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland Goes Through Hong Kong’s Looking Glass

Friday. 5 February. 2010. 11:15 am
March 4, 2010

Don’t be late for this very important date.

After you’ve Avatar’ed the hell out of yourself this past 60 days, its time to avert your gaze to some new films opening in Hong Kong.

One of the more clever visual looking films coming this year is again from the mind of director Tim Burton. We think Burton is hit (Sleepy Hollow) and miss (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) we are very excited to see what he does with the Alice in Wonderland story.

We hope you didn’t throw away your Avatar glasses because Alice in Wonderland will be in 3D and opens in Hong Kong on March 4th and looks like it will be bumping out Avatar in either both or at least one of the IMAX cinemas in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong poster and trailer are below.
