As it is one of Sony’s flagship intellectual properties, they really have to milk it for what they can: Witness the new Metal Gear Solid Walkman.

It’s a special limited edition of the Walkman NWZ-W252/Z, a water-resistant and washable MP3 player to celebrate the launch of Konami’s highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker on the PSP.

Designed with a distinctive green camouflage finish, the wire-free Walkman W series comes pre-installed with 6 songs from the game soundtrack. In addition, a coupon inside the packaging of each special edition Walkman features a unique code that unlocks original characters in Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker. With a 2GB capacity that stores up to 470 songs, the NWZ-W252/Z offers up to 11 hours of playback time with a full charge of 90 minutes.

This limited edition Walkman NWZ-W252/Z is available from June 2010 at the suggested retail price of HK$598. Additionally, Sony Style stores and designated authorized dealers will provide a bundling package of the Walkman NWZ-W252/Z and the Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker game at HK$848.

The regular non-MGS version sports a new metallic look, with a more intuitive user experience with a one touch Bass Enhancer with red power illuminator to boost bass performance on music tracks. The Walkman B series offers a wide variety of audio features, from MP3 music playback to voice and FM recording. Transferring music directly to the music player is also easily done with a simple drag-and-drop.

The NWZ-B152 (2GB) and NWZ-B153 (4GB) will be available at the suggested retail prices of HK$348 and HK$488 respectively starting this week at your favorite electronics shop or from Sony Style.

We’ll still holding out for a MGS iPhone though!

These jeans make friendly room for your gizmos and the family jewels.

Have you been frustrated over and over again about keeping your iWhatevers™ in your 1.0 pant pockets?

Yes, the French just might have the solution for you: WTFJeans! (that’s their name, not our expletive, though it would fit!)

So what makes WTFJeans special? Well, it’s got an iPhone/iPod Touch micro-fiber insulated pocket that’s been cut and measured exactly right so your device doesn’t sway or bump against keys or coins like a buxom girl at a club. And, there’s a hidden, high-security USB stick pocket to keep all your critical data and encrypted porn work documents close.

This fashion-forward idea was started by a geeky French couple who wanted to make two pairs of jeans for themselves. Being the internet-addicted people they are (like us and you reading this), they wanted jeans that could very much hold their mobile phones and gadgets.

As soon as a few friends said that they’d like a pair, the couple made an online shop. There’s just one catch, though – they’re only selling 1000 pairs! The Beta batch (400 pairs) is expected to ship in May. According to WTFJeans.com, the next batch of jeans are priced a little over HK$780/US$100, to be due in August.

Twitter has been a fad, so much that it’s made its way into these European pants because the stitching all around the WTFjeans are Twitter-blue. Though we have different views on quality, style and other things that make us love or hate a pair of jeans, the idea of custom pockets made for our much loved gadgets warms our geeky hearts.

Oh wait, there’s one more thing: The weird and most interesting part of WTFJeans is that it doesn’t just pad your electronic toys, it also pads your flesh gizmo. You heard it right. For some strange reason, they’ve added extra padding in the crotch area to give you a nice snuggle. The jeans will be offered in men’s and women’s cuts, although the ladies miss out on the hot crotch zone features.

According to the product description, “No matter whether you wear the family jewels on the right like 90 percent of guys, or whether you’re a leftie—extra padding on both sides keeps them cozy”.

So yeah, WTF indeed.

…and yes, “wear them FTW!”

Whether you’re a hard-core PC gamer, professional Excel file maker, Twitter tyrant or anything in between, you likely spend hours a day in front of your computer monitor. You’ve also likely experienced the eye-strain and headaches caused by this kind of long-term exposure to the blue LED light given off by our monitors. Short of calling it quits (yeah, right) what’s a long-term computer user to do?

One awesome option, you could pick up a pair of Gunnar’s Computer Glasses. These slightly convex, yellow-tinted shades filter harmful LED lights and shift the blue tones (that make it so difficult for our eyes to focus) toward the warmer end of the spectrum. Additionally, the lenses are polarized, cutting down on glare and further reducing eye-strain.

Gunnar’s vary in price, ranging from around HK$800 (US$99) to around HK$1,600 (US$200), depending on your frame choice. The majority retail at about HK$1,200 (US$150) – a small price to pay to protect your eyes long-term and reduce those nagging headaches. Gunnar’s Computer Glasses are available online at gunnaroptics.com

Mac accessories made specifically for the Mac and not recolored PC stuff.

As Mac users, we hardly ever come across accessories made for Mac. The best we’ve ever gotten was PC accessories colored white and labeled “For Macs”. We know that the one most important reason that we chose to buy a Mac was for the design and looks. What’s the point of getting an overpriced Mac when we’ll have ruin its marvelous looks by pairing it up with mismatching PC accessories?

Well, that time has finally come to an end. Twelve South, a fairly new company, has gone on a mission to develop accessories exclusively for Macs. The result: perfect match and beauty.

So far, they’ve released 3 different accessories. Our favorite, no doubt, is called the Backpack. The Backpack is a gorgeous little shelf that you can attach to the back of your iMac or Apple Cinema Display. This stylish space-saver can keep your peripherals out of sight while still in reach. You can put anything from USB drives, external hard drives, to even a Mac Mini! The best part is that this shelf relies entirely on gravity and two little adjustible clips, so you won’t ever need to hurt your Mac with cruel screws. This means that you’ll be able to hang more than one Backpack on your Mac! Backpacks are available to be purchased on their official website for HK$230 each, or HK$1,200 for 6 plus shipping.

The BookArc (pictured below) is a stand that can hold anything from a Macbook Air to a 17″ Macbook Pro. The BookArc not only can save valuable desk space, but it also can protect your Macbook by hugging it perfectly with silicone cushions. The best part about it is– it’ll look perfect next to your iMac.

Finally, there is the SurfacePad. This is a super-thin black leather cover for your Macbook that will not only protect it from dirt, dust, and scratches, but also transform it into a work of art. Also, the leather padding will definitely make it more comfortable for you to work on your Macbook too!

Both the BookArc and SurfaceArc can be bought in single or 6-packs. The BookArc goes for US$49.99/HK$390, or US$249.99/HK$1,950 for the 6-pack. The SurfacePad goes for US$39.99/HK$300, and US$199.99/HK$1,550 for 6. If you’ve got over spending the extra money for a Mac, what’s there to hold back on spending a little extra to treat your Mac well with these exclusive Mac accessories?

We believe the coolest stuff to buy is found online and not in stores. Most store buyers just stock shelves for the mass market people with things they can understand and afford.

The Star Wars Shop has been bringing us all kinds of weird and wonderful Star Wars merchandise that are gifts to true Star Wars collectors. A quick scan of the store finds the above 12 inch x 12 inch Death Star Cookie Jar, which at US$50/HK$400 is really for the true fan, but its also something so cool that even the casual fan would need to have it.

Surf deeper and you’ll find a Darth Vader toaster, Mos Eisley’s Cantina pint glasses, Mos Eisly 6-piece shot glass set and this crazy Dagobah Frog Habitat (The place Yoda lives in The Empire Strikes Back, weird, but it fits so right with the movie).

Everyone knows that Lucas keeps his merchandise empire ahead of the curve, but if you think the Star Wars stuff at Toys R Us is the best he has to offer, its time to hit up the Star Wars Shop now.

Show-off your best running times on Facebook…from your wrist!

You have to hand it to Nike, they make exercising exciting even for geeks and bring high-tech to the usually low-tech.

The Nike+ SportBand give runners real-time performance feedback on their distance, pace, time and calories burned with just a glance at their wrist. Runners who enjoy listening to music may continue to hear their run details through the Apple iPod nano, iTouch or iPhone systems. The Nike+ SportBand will be available now with a suggested retail price of HK$500.

It just doesn’t stop there, at nikeplus.com they’ve added many new features and social media opportunities including:

Personalization: The new navigational system includes a customizable homepage for members providing at-a-glance views of your training, progress in goals and challenges, and your Nike+ Mini. Now runners can personalize every run to illustrate their mood, weather, terrain, route and more.

Find Your Friends: Runners will now be able to search for like-minded and similarly-skilled runners, accept new friend requests and initiate challenges in conjunction with their favorite social media platforms. And because no good run should go unpublished, runners can broadcast their own successes beyond Nike+, with automatic updates to Facebook status, Twitter feeds and much more.

New Shoe Finder: This feature asks runners to answer a few simple questions in order to receive a customized shoe recommendation based on the latest shoe technology.

Facebook and Twittering during our morning jog? Is this too much? Usually we jog to get away from the computers and just take an iPod Shuffle for the tunes. But there might be some of you out there who need to stay in touch more and it looks like Nike’s got you covered.

The User Guide is here so you can test your tech competency level and a Stuff review here.

This GPS stuff on the iPhone can be seen as a dream or nightmare to iPhone users. A dream for tracking down friends and family members, a nightmare if you have a suspicious wife/girlfriend.

Infoxenter, a local Hong Kong developer (who is a family man) has created and launched BindoGPS for the iPhone and its available to download here. “Bin Do” being the phonetic sound for the Cantonese “Where are you?” Yes, a localized version of the other iPhone App Hey, Where are You?

The best use for this is probably for hikers who go wandering in the Hong Kong hills and want to make sure their group doesn’t get lost. You can also send your trip location to friends who are late to meet up with you. You can also use this to tell friends what Wan Chai bar you are in as well, and I guess see if your girlfriend is on her way to Wan Chai to see you, so you can discreetly jump in a cab to Lan Kwai Fong with your entourage.

Read more about BindoGPS here and download it (3.0 ready) for US$4.99/HK$40 from the iTunes store here.

Forget Cup Noodles, have something more fancy at your desk.

This is the smallest portable microwave in the world and its powered by a USB cable and will change instant food you see around the office forever.

Heinz is behind this, and of course they want to be the one to supply you with the food like these ready-to-heat-and-eat Snap Pots, but you can imagine the endless array of dim sum and fried rice concoctions more palatable to the Asian stomach available to overworked office staff that need a quick pick-me-up at all hours of the day.

Apart from its size, the key breakthrough is the use of a combination of mobile phone radio frequencies to create the heat to cook both on the outside and within in under a minute.

Mr Andrews, the managing director of GAMA Microwave Technology, said it is possible to ‘tune’ the radio-frequencies to provide the best results with any small product.

‘It is possible to heat a pie, a burger, a cup of soup or tea in quick time,’ he said.

While its still in prototype stage, so its up to test and feedback they get in their test markets before its launched overseas, but we can just feel that some China factories are reading this post and having ideas of their own. More about this at the Daily Mail.
