Recently HTC Hong Kong showed off the upcoming HTC Titan; the latest Windows Phone OS 7.5, that sports a large 4.7 inch display wrapped in an ultra-thin 9.9mm aluminum case. At a recent gala event held at the Grand Stage in the iconic colonial Western Market, Nokia Hong Kong finally unveiled the Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 710.

Over six months ago Nokia announced its plans to adopt the Windows Phone 7 OS as its replacement for its aging Symbian operating system. Now finally after much waiting by Nokia fans, the Finnish cell phone maker has release not one but two new smartphones running the Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) operating system.

For those lucky enough to attend the event; guests were greeted by blue T-shirt wearing Nokia employees (the T-Shirts had NOKIA blazoned on the chest so that people could tell them apart from the Apple store drones) bellowing the word “Amazing” at everyone who entered the building, literally stunning attendees with their “amazing” enthusiasm.

The evening events were kicked off by local singer Sammi Cheng singing a rousing gospel rendition of John Newton’s Amazing Grace. As we were pelted by Sammi’s vocals we couldn’t help but think “does Nokia see Windows Phone 7 as their savior from their impending perdition?” Sadly we can only pray for Nokia’s salvation that WP7.5 will be that savior for them as they were one of the leading manufacturers that made mobile phones accessible to the masses.

We managed to get a look at the two Lumia’s the 800 is a sexy sleek-looking device that can fit into a ladies clutch purse and is clear aimed at the posh gentry set; while the 710 is a more youthfully exuberant phone aimed at energetic go getters. Unfortunately we weren’t able to play with them or offered a chance to properly review either of the phones at our leisure; but local tech journo buzz is that the Nokia Lumia 800 is a fairly decent phone; the only negative comment was the lack of local (Chinese) apps.

Samsung Hong Kong has released the Galaxy Note a supersized smartphone that features a 5.3″ HD Super AMOLED display; a 1.4GHz Dual Core Processor, running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS.

The Galaxy Note may sport a very large screen but that’s not its major feature; what makes this new smartphone standout is the stylus input functions called S Pen. An Android device with a stylus input function was first seen on the HTC Flier; a tablet device that was released at the beginning of this year that unfortunately failed to properly capitalize on the function. Samsung has taken those functions and have expanded upon and improved them; the S Pen delivers a set of pen tools that are much better and offers a variety of options that enables users to freely capture and create ideas anywhere and everywhere.

The most impressive aspect of the S Pen is the fact that it almost feels like a Wacom tablet. The pen input technology features an array of functions including pressure sensitivity, preciseness, speed and more. With the S Pen, you can easily sketch drawings or write notes with increased accuracy and ease. Also, the S Pen functionality is deeply integrated into the Galaxy Note’s native applications to provide a much better interactive experience; something that the HTC Flier sorely lacked. Users will find a nice array of artist tools that will allow you to do some nice doodles or create some amazing neo-modern paintings.

HTC Hong Kong officially launches the first 3D camera mobile phone for local users who want to be the next James Cameron. The new HTC EVO 3D will enable users to take photos and shoot movies in either 3D and regular 2D.

LG Hong Kong unveiled their latest mobile phone the Optimus 3D; the new mobile features two 5 mega-pixel stereoscopic cameras that captures photos and video in 3D.
