You don’t need any nachos with this smartphone.

It was kind of déjà vu for us when we walked into the Wan Chai branch of Wooloomooloo for the launch of the new HTC Salsa, because it was less than a month ago that we were here for the launch of the HTC Sensation. The Salsa is what I will call a “feature Smartphone” because it is a mobile device geared to making mobile Facebooking easier.

The Salsa is for those who find themselves constantly updating their Facebook status and this new device from HTC Hong Kong is specifically aimed at that consumer group. The Android 2.3 OS has even been tweaked to reflect that from displaying Facebook updates when you make and receive calls to their tweaked clock widget that displays the latest FB wall update instead of weather information.

As readers well know, we’ve been to a few mobile phone launches, and we just love the names that companies give their phones.

Normally it’s a cool name like “incredible,” “desire” or something cute like “Lollipop” and “Cookie.” Rarely do we see a phone that is given an antonym for its name but LG has decided to name its first NOVA screen mobile phone the Optimus “Black.” Now we know that it’s going for a name that denotes cool, sexy and sleek and black certain has all those connotations over “white” and “bright.”
