A new entry level Android smartphone from HTC.

It was about a year ago that HTC Hong Kong released the Wildfire now a year later the Taiwanese mobile phone makers comes back with a new and improved little machine and slaps the letter “S” on the end. The Wildfire S is HTC’s entry level Android phone and is competitively priced at HK$2,498.
This new HTC device sports a 600Mhz CPU with 3.2-inch HVGA touch screen, 320 x 480 resolution display (which is doubles the resolution offered by HTC Wildfire). It also comes with a 5-megapixel auto focus camera, LED flash, Face detection, Self-portrait capability, built-in photo effects and Geotagging.

LG doubles down with new NVIDIA Tegra 2 Dual Core mobile phone.

The first dual core mobile phone has made its appearance in Hong Kong from one of the least likeliest of cell phone makers, LG (HK).
At a recent press event the Korean electronics maker showed off their new super powered mobile the Optimus 2X to a crowd of semi-excited tech journalists.

Is this their deathbed or the future of their success?

You’ve no doubt heard about Nokia’s ‘Star Trek First Contact” strategy over the past weeks with the superphone company ditching their Symbian and MeeGo operating systems and going “all-in” with Microsoft and adopting their Windows Phone 7 OS to gain back their market share in the world market.
This is past “game changing” this is “life changing” – Nokia’s move decimates jobs, shakes up worldwide partnerships and erupts the playing field for smartphone OS dominance – for better or worse – forever. One thing for sure, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop is pulling some serious Jean-Luc Picard manuevers and he will be followed closely to see if his plan against the Borg other smartphone makers was the right one.
Now that you’ve no doubt been involved in many debates yourselves we want to hear what your thoughts on this: Is the iPhone doomed? Is Android over? Or has Nokia signed its own suicide note?

Can it also “defy” its competition in the Android phone space?

Nokia gears up for the Christmas rush.

Nokia last week told Hong Kong it was getting ready for Christmas with the launch of 2 new handsets and a brand new store in Mong Kok.
The Nokia C5-03 is now available for a stocking stuffer price of HK$2,198 alongside a new QWERTY phone the Nokia C3-00.
And since nothing else attracts mobile phone users than a good cup of coffee, Nokia’s new 2-level Mong Kok store has partnered with Soft Aroma to create a mix of caffeine and Finnish ingenuity. Read that however you like.
