Spice up that Wii sensor, by having a Sith Lord to hold it for you.
Seems like Nintendo Monday today, but this Nintendo Wii sensor holder was too cool not to show.
How many of you, like us, just have their Wii sensor sitting somewhere on top or near your TV – pretty boring stuff, when for HK$320 you can have Darth Vader holding it for you!
It’s cast in high-density resin with a specially crafted Lightsaber to safely supports the Wii Sensor Bar while maintaining full range and performance. More here at Geekstir
Bigger really is better when it comes to the new Nintendo DSi LL.
Last week, we told you about the new Nintendo DSi LLthat was launched in Japan. This week, we can tell you for certain that the LL is now available in Hong Kong as we found a bright shining one ourselves at the Sham Shui Po Golden Shopping Arcade, for the low price of HK$1,850. Cheaper than the HK website we reported on last week! So, to go that extra mile and really give you the early scoop on it, Neonpunch bought one to review just for you!
So, what’s new in the world of the Nintendo DS? The LL sports a 4.2 inches screen that is an inch bigger than the DSi’s 3.25 inches and the DS Lite’s 3 inches. However, pixel resolution has not been increased from the current resolution of 256 x 192 pixels per screen. This basically means that graphics appear a little more pixilated (blocky). The new device is available in three colours, wine red, dark brown and natural white.
Nintendo’s specs for the battery are 13-17 hours of runtime on the lowest brightness screen setting, compared to 9-14 on the DSi. On the highest brightness, the DSi LL will lasts for about 4-5 hours, roughly an hour longer than the DSi.
A new version of the NDS is out with 2 giant screens.
Okay, we’re bringing this to your attention because most likely a lot of you will be buying some kind of Nintendo handheld gaming machine this Christmas, and the last thing you want to do is kick yourself when you see this one come out a few months after gift-buying season.
Over the weekend in Japan, Nintendo released the Nintendo DSi LL; exactly the same as every other DS handheld except this one comes with 2 giant 4.2-inch TFT screens. When it hits the U.S. and Europe next year, it will be called the Nintendo DSi XL but that will be well after Christmas.
So, here’s a heads-up to hit some of our “Water Stock” stores in Hong Kong (i.e. Wan Chai and Mong Kok) this week to see if they can get one for you before you go and buy a soon-to-be obsolete version of the popular gaming machine. See how we look after you?!
Not only that, if hitting the game shops is just too much trouble for you and you want to stay beside the fire, Renchi.com in Hong Kong is taking pre-orders now at US$269 each (HK$2,085). Seeing as the current NDS Lite is going for around HK$1,000 at Fortress, the first-man-in-town tax is applied. More pictures and info on the LL (in Japanese) here.
Write anything from ‘God’ to ‘Kraken,’ just not ‘Obama’ to win!
We’re still reeling from stuff from E3, and this little game might have passed over your radar too. Scribblenauts for the Nintendo DS is a game where you write items and they show up to help you complete the game. Sounds simple, the big draw here is that the programmers have put in so many different variations and reached in deep to a typical gamer’s vocabulary book that it may very well be impossible to stump the game by the time it actually hits store shelves. It looks like a kids game, but we guarantee it’ll have you hooked.
This first video is the basic trailer to give you and idea of what it does:
And this one has 2 dudes using their vast nerd vocabulary to try and stump it and only miss 1 or 2 of their choices:
Scribblenauts is slated for a September 30, 2009 release date in North America for HK$240. No word on if this will be localized into different languages but we think its a huge miss if its not in Chinese. A great way for people to learn basic Chinese character writing, no?
Not really, but we would pay to see this expanded to 2 hours.
What’s going on in France? First we saw a Pac-Man live-action video, and now we see Mario dropping real banana peels into the street. Seeing how bad Speed Racer did we don’t expect to see a Wacky Races or a Mario Kart movie coming anytime soon, so until everyone in Hollywood forgets we’ll have this:
