New HD PSP Available in Hong Kong

New version of the Playstation Portable officially out tomorrow.

Just in time for the upcoming gift-buying season, Sony is ready to launch a new high-definition version of their Playstation Portable on Tuesday, October 14th (same date as the US.)

With an official price of HK$1380 this version of the PSP takes the platform to HD and allows for better LCD screen resolution (and allow you to plug into your HDTV), integrated microphone, anti-reflective tech to allow for easy outdoor gameplay and comes in 3 cool colors: mystic silver, pearl white and piano black.

Look for them at places like Toys R Us, Sony Style shop, Fortress, Broadway and more starting Tuesday.

Round 1: Playstation Home @ Hong Kong

What we saw in our first few hours with PS Home.

Thanks to Sony Hong Kong we were able to log into the private beta test for the Hong Kong version of the Playstation Home virtual community. First we’ll walk through the character making process. As shown above the process is pretty straight forward and simple. You get a bunch of face options, body options and hair but limited on the clothing and footwear – most likely either because its a beta or that you’ll have to buy better clothes.

I don’t know if this is the worldwide default but the one I got looked pretty Asian and an almost typical looking Playstation user. So I decided to change that and go as a harshly tanned dude with a pink mohawk.

The build was simple and anyone who has built an avatar online will have no problems using this interface but I’d of course like to see more options for hairstyle and accessories, or at least allow me to upload my own images to into it. But will they let me have an Apple logo t-shirt?

So far so good. Tomorrow, we’ll look at walking around in the first environment after a 35MB download…

PlaystationHome Private Beta

We’re testing the PS3′s new community in Hong Kong.

Sony Hong Kong has given us a private beta password for their new PlaystationHome online world that features a place for Hong Kong PS3 owners a place to call their own. We just got the passwords and will give you more information and our thoughts throughout this week.
