WebOS gives HP the software platform it needs to become a contender.
The tech world is still buzz about the news that HP, the world’s biggest PC manufacturer, bought Palm for $1.2 billion.
HP is saving a real pioneer in the smartphone and PDA business, as Palm created the first successful PDA back in 1997. Palm simply wasn’t going to be able to spend enough to support WebOS against the giants of this market, and HP will be able to do that without breaking a sweat.
And the more competition in the market, the better.
Apple made a comment yesterday about being “nimble” in pricing of the iPad if the market demand for it isn’t as big as they think.
So, we thought we’d run a poll to see if this news would affect the way you buy an iPad, keeping in mind the big drop in price the first iPhone experienced on its launch (US$200 in short order, but gave early adopters $100 in store credit).
As iPadawans have noticed, there are 6 different versions of the iPad, there are 2 main choices: 3G and no-3G, and then with 3 different memory specs to suit every kind of user.
So now that some of the hype/backlash has died down a bit, please share with us your purchasing plans come this March/April 2010:
In the wake of the iPad, Google is ready to pounce!

These photos were found on The Chromium Projects site so it could just as easily be a concept rendering as its not from Google itself, but since there will be multiple companies making Google Chrome tablets the chances that one will look like this (and very similar to the iPad) might not be as much as a long shot as we might think.
