Will the future of gaming be totally changed with this?

Recently, a company called OnLive introduced a totally new idea that attracted an unbelievable amount of attention. They took the idea of remote servers called “clouds” into the video gaming market. They want to start a system where high-end gaming can be played on low-end computers with high-speed internet.

How it works is that all the game processing is done on OnLive’s remote servers, which will send to your computer monitor or TV video signals. With this, it will seem like you’re actually playing the game locally. All you will need is a very basic computer or console that will handle the controller inputs.

We’d have to say that we’re very impressed with OnLive’s idea. If they succeed with this idea, they could easily bring down the video gaming giants Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft. However, the only problem we see in this idea is the possibility of lag since there would be quite a lot of distance between your computer and their remote servers.

OnLive says that this system will be available at the end of the year for a price that’s “significantly lower than gaming consoles”. The games can be bought similar to on-demand TV, where you order them through the internet. Look out video gaming giants, OnLive’s coming for you!
