Dell Adamo Goes Head to Head With the Macbook Air
Dell puts their new laptop on the Apple diet.

After months of waiting, Dell finally released their official competitor to the Macbook Air, the first machine in the new Dell Adamo line. Dell claims that this is officially the thinnest notebook in the world, thinner than even the Macbook Air. However, this claim is quite controversial, as the Macbook Air is thinner than this notebook at its thinnest point, but a bit thicker in its thickest point. Anyhow, let’s see what this laptop’s really got.
Judging by the looks, anyone would know that this is a high-end laptop. You could tell how much time and money Dell spent just on the design of this thing. They even made a magnetic cover to hide the Microsoft-Required Windows Authenticity sticker! Check it out: (Note that the sticker isn’t on this laptop, as it’s just a prototype, but the stickers will be on the real ones.)

This laptop is definitely aesthetically pleasing, but does it really offer anything beyond beauty? The 13.4″ laptop is powered by a 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo U9300 CPU, an integrated Intel X4500 graphics processor, 2GB of RAM and a 128GB Solid State Drive. Unfortunately, we’d have to say that beauty is only skin deep here, as the laptop offers not much power inside, especially for its high price of US$1999/HK$15,500.
In all, this is a great, and probably the only, big competitor to the Macbook Air. We were quite amazed by its design, but a little disappointed by its value, especially for its high price. If you want to check this laptop out, you can see it on Dell’s website. While you’re at it, why not check out CNET’s hands-on review of the Dell Adamo?
