Will I be murdered on the spot for owning a Jailbroken iPad and iPhone?
Not if you can beat Darth Sidious at a round of jedi shots!
Hi,
at the moment I’m in hongkong for about a week, and Im looking to buy an iPhone 4. I found out that all the official resellers (like forts) don’t have the iPhone yet and that the official providers (like 3 & vodafone) do have them, but only sell them with a contract. (as you probably all knew already)
but I’ve also found tons of little gadget shops in the streets (a lot of them at, and around Nathan street, where my hotel is) who claim to sell the iPhone 4 for prices ranging from 6000 to 11000 HK$.
Does anyone know anything about these shops? Are the products (read: iphone) fake? Malfunctioning? Illegal? Unlocked? Imported?
I asked a bunch of them to see the actual iPhone, but they won’t, untill I buy it. Ofcourse I wont buy anything I haven’t seen before, but I’d like some more background info on these stores & want to know if I can trust them.
Anyone who can help me? I don’t mind paying 5500 for it, even though it’s more expensive than the suggested retail price by apple, it’s way cheaper than buying one at home (Netherlands).
Thanks for all your information!
@Pepijn: The chances of it being real are good. Its just the price is so inflated.
Come to the event on Thursday and get more info from other in-the-know iPhanatics.
@jetsons
tnx, we’ll try to be there. Found a place where we can buy one for 5500.
Jetsons where did u buy at 5500HKD? is it an officially unlocked phone. I am passing through HongKong to Taipei on saturday 7th and was hoping to pick one up.
3HK sucks. Don’t get a plan w/them. I was given a text message to say I was a selected customer to get an iPhone4 at launch phase to be contacted in 10 days. 8 days expired today. Rang up 3162 3333 (3HK Customer Hotline) a few times. They dodged me, avoided answering me and eventually had to admit they’ve already run out of stock. Presumably they’ve given out their iPhone 4s to mates and all sorts of people but not their “selected” customers. I know a guy who’s got 3 iPhone 4s (16GB) already. He said he’d never registered. I had. On 21 June 2010. No matter what you do, don’t become a “selected” customer of 3HK. You’ll be selected not to be able to get it. I’ll be trying to get out of my plan with them. No matter what you guys do, don’t go with 3HK.
Nick
I’ll never again buy a locked iPhone. I will never be caught dead with a jail-broken one and I travel a lot it’ll be nice to stop paying those heavy roaming bills.
I want a unlocked phone and am willing to pay 5500HKD for it. if anyone has one please let me know. I am leaving hongkong on 8th evening and would like to buy before that.
