iPhone 3.0: Cut and Paste and 99 Other Things You Will Love
Apple takes our iPhones for a third time with over 100 new features.
The internet explodes again today with news from Apple of the new upgrades to their iPhone OS with the new version 3.0. You can watch the Cupertino press conference keynote to see all these new features in action here. But some of the highlights are:
- In-app Purchasing: Now, you will be able to purchase new levels, books, and app updates directly within the app you’re using. You no longer will have to go to the app store in order to purchase countless updates for your app.
- Copy, cut, and paste: This is probably what many of you are waiting for. Now, you’ll finally be able to copy text and pictures from websites and paste them into your notes or whatever.
- MMS: Yes, you’ll finally be able to send pictures and videos instead of just the normal SMS. Unfortunately, this service will not be available to the 1st generation iPhone users.
- Landscape keyboard: We know you’ve been waiting for this for a long time. Apple heard your complaints, and now you’ll be able to type in landscape mode no matter what app you’re using.
- A2DP Bluetooth: You can connect stereo bluetooth headphones with this technology.
- Turn-by-Turn Directions: You can now download apps with full maps that can give you turn-by-turn directions to your destination. However, most apps from providers such as Tom Tom will cost money.
- Spotlight Searching: There will be a search button in the home screen where you can search for anything in the system, including mail, notes, etc.
- Copy and Paste text and photos
- 3G Tethering
- Landscape keyboard!!!
- MMS
- Stereo bluetooth
- Wi-Fi autologin
- RUMBLE! Yes just like a Xbox controller when playing games!
The upgrade to 3.0 will be free to all iPhone users except some of the features won’t work on first gen iPhones and if you have an iPod Touch you’ll need to pay US$9.95/HK$80 for the new OS.
We’re going to be examining this amazing list of new features over the week, so stay tuned.
