LG Selling Mobile Lollipops in Hong Kong

LG Hong Kong launches a new confectionery named handset.

It’s déjà vu for Neonpunch.com as we find ourselves again atop of the IFC Mall at G Bar attending the launch of another mobile phone….it was only last night we attended the launch of Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Pureness mobile phone, at the same location!

LG Hong Kong launched the GD580, which has been christened the Lollipop and, like its name sake, is quite deliciously sweet in design. The new “sweet” phone from LG promises that it won’t give you cavities or hurt your wallet too much. The perfect pretty gift for your girlfriend or wife.

There to celebrate the Hong Kong launch of the Lollipop was Ella Koo and Fiona Sit, who graciously posed for a few photos and chatted with us about how much they liked the design of LG’s new phone.

The 3.5G clam-shell phone comes in three colours – bright pink, sky blue and, for the more serious, a metallic grey. The top cover of the phone has an animated flashing LED pixel display that can be set to show a designated animation for a particular caller in the same way you can preset ringtones for your phone’s contacts.

Another special feature of the phone is the ability to silence the ringer by just placing the phone upside down on a surface, and not having to fuss with looking for a button to press. This function comes in handy if you are in a meeting or public place and need to quickly shut the ringer off before it becomes embarrassingly distracting.

The Lollipop has a 2.8 inch WQVGA supports MP4 video playback, a built-in FM radio, a 3 mega-pixel camera, several custom designed cartoon user interfaces and an Mp3 music player.
