We’ve seen all kinds of USB toys, and other gizmos that work with your computer but this one takes the prize! If you are a serious Facebook person, then you should have a look at this MyDeskFriend robot toy.

This cute little robot penguin is connected to your Facebook account so it alerts you when Alerts you when your friends log in, reads updates from your Facebook homepage, receives and reads Instant Messages from your friends and you can use it to directly poke back your friends.

Besides Facebook it can also keep you informed about your favourite topics, read the weather forecast for any city, alerts you when you receive emails, or before your next important appointment.

If this is works half as great as it sets out to, then this will revolutionize toys for everyone and will bring us one step closer to the fate that awaits us as depicted in the Terminator movies, except instead of robot skeletons, the human resistance will be fighting robotic penguin!?!

Here is a video we snagged from the Get Robo blog, that shows the MyDesktopFriend’s motion detectors as it acts like a Tamagotchi on steroids:

MyDeskFriend should be out in September with a US$99/HK$780 pricetag and will definitely freak out your officemates with the surname “Connor!”
