Get Ready for the Triple-Dip: Classic Star Trek on Blu-Ray

New movie = old stuff is upgraded + your pockets are emptied…again.

TrekMovie is reporting that all 6 of the classic Star Trek crew movies and all 3 seasons of the original TV series are all heading to Blu-ray in time for J.J. Abrams new Star Trek movie hitting theatres in May, and Hong Kong specifically on May 28, 2009.

No price is determined yet, but hopefully with all the returning to the well on this series we can get a nicely priced package to all of us who will be buying this for the third time (VHS, DVD etc.).

One thing you can be happy of, you can skip the toys. Below are Playmates line-up of Star Trek action figures. Oh, the humanity. Is that supposed to be Simon Pegg? Crikey!

It doesn’t stop there either, Star Trek seems to be the big licensing movie of 2009 so get ready for stuff like Star Trek cologne (??!!), loungewear, cookie jars, men and women’s jewellry, cufflinks and so much more. How much of this hits Hong Kong is open to if they get the license to distribute here and for our sakes let’s hope that they don’t.

Although a “Pon Farr” fragrance to hit Lan Kwai Fong with might just do the trick.
