Watching people die crazy deaths in 3D is really a fun time at the cinema!

finaldestination Review: The Final Destination

Look, if you’ve seen any of the 3 original Final Destination movies then you’ve seen this one…but you’ve probably never seen a nailgun shoot nails into your head in 3D!

It seems the producers of The Final Destination decided the first 3 had too much story, and basically just kept the basic plot from the first one (a group of teens escape death and then they die in the order they were supposed to die, someone tries to change destiny and yadda yadda yadda) who needed all that sub-plot anyways! We all came to see some crazy inventive deaths and they gave it to us. They even forgot the ending and through in some more crazy killing!

3 things we’ve learned watching these movies:

  1. Every piece of metal is super-hard and all wood is made of toothpicks.
  2. You think someone is going to die one way, but they go the other way, but the first way would have been cooler.
  3. Mourning: who needs it.

The Final Destination is now playing in Hong Kong.

And we asked the winners of our Final Destination ticket contest what they thought of the movie:

“Craziest of the 4 movies and the best! The deaths were fantastic and the 3D just made it more sick!”
- Andy

“How can you review this movie? Either you like this kind of movie or you don’t. To me, as a a fan of horror movies, this was the best one I’ve seen in a long time.”
- Ben

Final Destination 4 in 3D is a fantastic idea and overall it was implemented well. Through the 3D glasses, you can almost feel the blood splashing on your face, nails shooting right at you and fire hovering over the audience. Like it said in the ad, death is closer! Sure it has some defects inherent with the 3D movies, such as causing dizziness and fuzzy areas, but it still brought you a greater visual enjoyment than the previous movies.

It is worth mentioning that the beginning of the movie reviewed the most freaky deaths from the previous movies with X-Rays, which is really cool. The movie has two disaster scenes and the ending turned out to be a big surprise, which are all the features I like.

By the way, the leading actors and actresses are the hottest so far in all 4 movies. It makes you actually care about whether they survive or not icon smile Review: The Final Destination

“I like this movie better than the movies like Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street because the director and writers are very imaginitive with ways to kill people. Impossible ways, but still very creative.”
- Jeremy

Frankly, I was quite disappointed with this fourth installment of the series. The opening crash was too short and it was not as good as the car accident in part 2 (which was the best, IMO) or the roller coaster ride in part 3. The other deaths were not creative (which was what the series is famous for). Some were just a rehash of the previous movies. The only good death scenes were the end at the cinema. That part was quite good.

As for the plot, there is none really. Just one death after another. The characters were all one-dimensional. At least in the first part, you get some background about Alex and his relationships with Clear. You at least feel for them in some way. You really don’t care about ANY of the characters in the movies. There is no real connections between them. In the beginning of the movie, you would have thought the main characters (Nick and Lori) were teenagers but then later it showed them living in an apartment by themselves. They apparently have no job or family as well. You also would have thought Hunt (the other male character) were friends with Nick and Lori. But for some reason NO ONE mentioned him after he dies. Instead, we see Nick and Lori celebrating with a bottle of champagne for thinking they broke “death’s” pattern. It was very poor writing and it didn’t help that the actors that played Nick had no acting abilities whatsoever. His line delivery were dull and he didn’t seem all too surprised by the people dying as the film goes on.

The only good thing was watching it in 3D. Otherwise, this movie was a dud. If there was a fifth part, I hope they bring back James Wong, the original director for the first and third part.
