Last year Samsung released a camera phone in Hong Kong called the Pixon M8800H, an 8.0 Mega pixel full-touch camera phone. This year Samsung ups the ante with the launch of their new Anycall Pixon12 the first 12 Megapixel full touch camera phone with a host of features that will make a professional photographer drool.

The Pixon12 has quick access to the camera function thanks to a handy hot key button, giving users a fast one-touch access to the camera function. Aside from the 12 Mega pixel camera the Pixon12 features auto focus tracking; 28mm wide angle lens, F2.6 large aperture, ISO 50 – 1600, Smart Auto Shooting Mode, 3.1-inch AMOLED full touch screen, and Communities feature that allows users to easily capture, browse, and share their images on the go.

The Auto Focus Tracking (AFT) function enables users to select a focus point with the touch of a finger and the AFT function will automatically keep the object in focus even if it moves across the screen. Users can actuate the AFT continually on selected moving object, such as child, runner, butterfly, etc. Smart Auto Shooting Mode allows users to take picture perfect photos every time no matter what the situation is without worry. The phone also has Xenon and Power LED flash, enabling users to capture well-lit photos and videos even in dark surroundings. Pixon12 can also record high quality videos in DVD level resolution (720×480 pixel).

With a large 3.1-inch 16 million color WVGA AMOLED full-touch screen, the Pixon12 offers high contrast and brilliant color. The media browser allows users to easily organize and manage photos with multiple ways of sorting – by Tag, Face, Rating, and Time. It makes viewing and editing photos much easier.

The Pixon12 offers a number of ways to share your photos with friends and family. Upload snapshots to Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, MySpace using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and via a combination of social networking widgets and the Communities feature users can quickly share photos with friends and family. Users can also download their photos onto their computer via the USB 2.0 port and edit them in Photoshop.

The Pixon12 features an 800MHz processor allowing user to multi-task a number of things like surf the web, view photo albums and listen to music al at the same time from the palm of your hand. The battery has approximately 7.5 hours (2G) and 4.8 hours (3G) Talk time and in standby 390 hours (2G) and 345 hours (3G).

We’re going to get the phone and run it through its paces to see how it stacks up as against regular no-phone point-and-shoot cameras.

The Samsung Anycall Pixon12 is available in Hong Kong for a suggested retail price of HK$5,288
