What if your Playstation had a baby with a Tamagotchi?

Sony Entertainment Hong Kong recently unveiled a new PS3 add-on device and game called the EyePet. Thanks to our friends at Sony, Neonpunch was invited to a demo of the new game and got to see what is most likely going to be the most requested Christmas gift this year. And before you get too excited, its a 3D critter that becomes your pet not any of the gorgeous models showcased in our photo gallery, got it?

The EyePet is a Tamagotchi like game that in combination with a PlayStation Eye camera allows users to interact with a cute monkey like pet. EyePet responds to every move you make, spin him round and watch him go dizzy or run around and watch him jump away. He sees and feels what you’re doing. This cheeky pet will follow you, jump over your moving hand and roll over when you stroke him. Like other animal sims you have to bath, feed and play with it.

Using a special controller card that is included with the game it allows gamers to interact with the EyePet in a number of ways. For example when the card is held up to the camera it can be used as a shower head to wash off soap suds and then changed into a blow dryer to dry his fur after his bath. It can also be used as a pair of shears to give your EyePet a funky hair do.

Taking care of your EyePet will earn you prizes every day that can then be traded for new accessories and cool outfits. With inbuilt evolutionary characteristics, EyePet takes on the desires, preferences and personality of its owners. So if it sits around on a sofa all day playing video games you know who to blame.

The EyePet (Asian English Edition) will be released on November 2nd and will cost HK$438. Ok it does seem a bit childish for our readers, but the technology here is quite amazing and we want to bring it to your attention as a real live Holodeck could be ours for the buying in our lifetime at this rate!
