Sony Japan has unveiled its amazingly thin A series Walkman. The updated NW-A840 series is available in black or brown and features a crisp 2.8inch WQVGA OLED screen and up to 64GB capacity (also available are 16GB and 32GB capacities). At just 7.2mm, It is the thinnest Walkman ever created, and weighs just 62 grams.

The NW-A840 series supports MPEG-4, AVC and WMV video and MP3, WMA, ATRAC, PCM and AAC audio and is PS3 compatible. It also features digital noise canceling headphones, TV-out and an FM radio, drag and drop auto converting video transfer and lyric display. The battery life is rated for 29 hours of music play or 9 hours of video playback.

The new Sony A series will be available at select retailers in Japan on October 31.
