The 8th and final Harry Potter hits Hong Kong like a magical typhoon.
Well, it’s been 10 years of many people’s lives and now its come to its stunning conclusion with Thursday Hong Kong opening of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
It’s a review proof movie of course, either you’re a Potter fan or you’re not, but to say that its smashing local movie box office records is like saying Voldemort is one evil dude!
Our picks for the geektastic flicks we can’t wait to see this year!
We may have picked a lot of stinkers this year – so we’ll preface this list by stressing them as most anticipated, not necessarily the best movies. These are the films that have started their internet hype campaigns already and have generated some buzz at the Neonpunch.com offices.
We have to say though, we’re completely pumped for 2011 as there a ton of geeky goodness movies to get us talking, so lets have a look at what we are excited to see this coming here starting with #10: THE GREEN HORNET
The Empire Strikes Back of Harry Potter movies, this one is.
No, we didn’t accidentally post a picture meant for our sister site Butterboom.com here by accident – you all know what Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint look like – we need to keep Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson in the limelight now that these movies are over – and more specifically now that she’s almost 21 we feel less creepy about posting photos of her here.
It seems as the cast gets more mature so do the films, as the new Harry Potterand the Deathly Hallows Part 1 - opening today in Hong Kong – is easly the Empire Strikes Back of the Harry potter franchise.
While Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 has been tearing up the US box office, Hong Kong has to wait till December 16th to see it – so the big battle for box office supremacy here for Christmas will be between Harry and Tron.

Avatar: The Last Airbender (pictured above) is a popular animated TV show aimed at kids but loved by many. Now the man behind The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable (the glory days) and more recently Lady in the Water and The Happening (the bad days) – M. Night Shyamalan – will now try and recapture his former glory by mixing Harry Potter and Dragonball into one new exciting live-action movie set for Summer 2010 called The Last Airbender (Dropped the “Avatar” because of James Cameron’s movie). It’s too soon to tell, but the trailer does look exciting:
