A PSA for lovers of feedback indie music in Hong Kong.

We don’t post many music events on Neonpunch.com but we just had to do a quick shout-out for this one – Songs for Children and Mirror Ball presents The Jesus and Mary Chain in Hong Kong at KiTec on May 23 and we for one couldn’t be more excited.

The iconic band from Scotland is making (we believe) their very first trip to Hong Kong as they snakedrive around Asia (even Beijing!) this month. You probably know them best from their song “Just Like Honey” during the closing scene from the Bill Murray/Scarlett Johansson movie “Lost in Translation” – and as one of the main influences for indie bands in the 90′s to today – we’re lucky to have them visit HK.

Interested to see what 2 brothers can do with 4-chords, distortion filters and great hair? Tickets are on sale today at Cityline.com and all Parsons outlets HK$580 advance and HK$640 at the door. More information here.

Not 3, Not HD: Apple ushers in the “resolutionary” New iPad.

So most of the rumours are true: Apple has upgraded their iPad 2 tablet device to the humbly named 9.7″: New iPad.

The best part of all this is that Hong Kong is finally part of the first city launches for Apple products and the New iPad will go on sale next Friday,  March 16.

All the details are already up on Apple.com/hk – so you can check out pricing there.

First thoughts: From watching and reading the liveblogging on sites like Engadget, GDGT and The Verge – it seems like the key feature of the New iPad is the retina display. What makes the iPhone 4 and 4S so amazing is its high-resolution screen and that technology is coming to the iPad – at the same price, but at the cost of the device being a bit heavier than the iPad 2.

Giorgio Armani Spring 2012 Campaign

The lightness of being.

Giorgio Armani neonpunch Giorgio Armani Spring 2012 Campaign

There’s something striking about this image from Giorgio Armani’s Spring campaign.

We attribute this to the sharp contrast of Simon Nessman’s dark outfit against a sterile and untainted looking beach. Shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot under the creative direction of Giorgio Armani, the campaign sums up the men’s collection right down to its core; lightness, geometric patterns and updated silhouettes.

We’re especially coveting the zigzag pattern shirt and the generously cut trousers that are nipped just at the knee. Despite the dark colors of the outfit, there’s a certain subtlety to the entire image that we can’t pin down but can definitely feel.

Ease and comfort is the name of the game for SS2012.

Dunhill sent us their new Spring/Summer 2012 collection which builds on the classic foundation of the modern gentleman’s look but carried with an “unbuttoned” attitude.

Sleeves rolled up, simple white shirt, slightly more preppy comes into play with knitted polo shirts, lightweight chinos and Harrington sports jackets.

We love this collection quite a bit as it does evoke a modern and forward-thinking Dunhill.
