Slickly designed, metal headphones bring music to our ears.

Following a much-hyped, very enthusiastic reception from music lovers and fashion aficionados in the UK, France and Japan, Atomic Floyd officially launches in Hong Kong.
Looking at the design, and listening to the quality of the sound you can tell these headphones were created by a company that had backgrounds in style and function. The team at Atomic Flyoyd are in fact a collective of designers and engineers with backgrounds at Nike, adidas, Philips and Shure.
While most headphones are comprised of plastic components, Atomic Floyd’s are handcrafted with metal materials including AcousticSteel, Titanium and 24k Gold. So the trifecta of quality headphones is represented here: design, workmanship and sound! You know you’ll be impressed when you learn that the cable is made of a kevlar fabric!

Steve Jobs is getting ready to part the red sea of gadgets again in 2010.

Here’s a final Christmas gift from Neonpunch to make sure you don’t spend all that “lai see” money you get from unimaginative gift-buying relatives tomorrow. The internet rumour mill has been in full swing while Hong Kong has been sleeping, and it seems that Apple’s unveiling of a “MacTablet” is looking likely for January 2010.
Big time news sources in the U.S. are declaring it’s coming in January so you can choose to believe them or not, but to us it seems like the perfect time for this to happen. The news is that developers are working on apps and the unveiling will happen in January but will go on sale in the middle of the year - an exact mirror of what happened with the iPhone launch in 2007.
While we are Apple zombies ourselves, we still question the practicality of such a device; which therefore makes us question if it’s actually a tablet or a bigger iPod instead of a netbook. Apple is all about user experience, the typical HK$4000 netbook is a negative user experience – people are trading in portability for their eyesight.
The lowest end Macbook is under HK$8,000 and the iPhone is under HK$6,000, so where will a “tablet” sit in terms of price point for Apple? Will it simply be a bigger iPod with apps, videos and possible magazine, comic book and newspaper content; or will it phase out the entry-level MacBook by having similar guts but more portability? Are you even ready to dump keyboards for touchscreens?
That said, of course we’ll be first in line to get one!
One thing we know, Steve Jobs will stun us: either with something no-one can guess or maybe even nothing at all (remember September?) We just thought we’d bring this to your attention in case you were still scurrying around buying gifts when what you, us, them, that guy over there really, really want…could be a few weeks away.
Merry Christmas everyone!

The latest and greatest from Steve Jobs himself.

The anticipation to these keynote events are almost as exciting as a Summer blockbuster, so when Apple fails to give us something mindblowing it seems more like Superman Returns instead of Iron Man. Today Steve Jobs returned to the podium to announce new iPod’s, new iTunes 9 which fall somewhere in the middle of those 2 movies, and the fact that we already have Apple’s “netbook” – its called the iPhone!
Highlights include:
- New iTunes 9 allows you to copy songs to 5 authurized computers
- Genius for iPhone Apps
- Use iTunes to manage the layout of your iPhone/iPod apps
- Re-designed iTunes store
- iTunes LP – brings all the printed extras like liner notes, photos and even videos to your music.
- US$199 for 8GB iPod Touch
- 64GB iPod Touch for US$399
- Going to kill the Flip with built-in cameras in the iPod Nano and available now from Apple with a 16GB for US$179.
- All are environmentally sound too!
You can go and read the liveblogging real time for a minute-to-minute play from Engadget or Macworld, or you can wait a bit longer for the official video from Apple.com.

The internet goes wild (again) with Apple speculation (again) and we join in!

As Hong Kong wakes up to a Friday morning, the Web has been lit up today with Apple talk because of the announcement that September 7th they are holding a keynote event and the speculation has begun as to what new Jesus-like device they are going to release.
We’ve given up speculating since we want all of it – but what do YOU think the September keynote will bring out, let us know.

Show-off your best running times on Facebook…from your wrist!

You have to hand it to Nike, they make exercising exciting even for geeks and bring high-tech to the usually low-tech.
The Nike+ SportBand give runners real-time performance feedback on their distance, pace, time and calories burned with just a glance at their wrist. Runners who enjoy listening to music may continue to hear their run details through the Apple iPod nano, iTouch or iPhone systems. The Nike+ SportBand will be available now with a suggested retail price of HK$500.
It just doesn’t stop there, at nikeplus.com they’ve added many new features and social media opportunities including:
- Personalization: The new navigational system includes a customizable homepage for members providing at-a-glance views of your training, progress in goals and challenges, and your Nike+ Mini. Now runners can personalize every run to illustrate their mood, weather, terrain, route and more.
- Find Your Friends: Runners will now be able to search for like-minded and similarly-skilled runners, accept new friend requests and initiate challenges in conjunction with their favorite social media platforms. And because no good run should go unpublished, runners can broadcast their own successes beyond Nike+, with automatic updates to Facebook status, Twitter feeds and much more.
- New Shoe Finder: This feature asks runners to answer a few simple questions in order to receive a customized shoe recommendation based on the latest shoe technology.
Facebook and Twittering during our morning jog? Is this too much? Usually we jog to get away from the computers and just take an iPod Shuffle for the tunes. But there might be some of you out there who need to stay in touch more and it looks like Nike’s got you covered.
The User Guide is here so you can test your tech competency level and a Stuff review here.

Yes, now your iPhone is also a portable movie theatre.

The MiLi Pro from Phonesuit is yet another cool attachment for your iPhone. This time when you want to show off the latest funny video from CollegeHumor.com, you can now use this small micro-projector attachment that you slide your iPhone into and it allows you to project onto virtually any surface.
The MiLi Pro has the capability to show 640×480 high resolution images and it can scale up to 40-inches. There are even integrated speakers and its recharable with 2 batteries. It works with the iPhone 3G, 3GS, 2G and iPod Touch and Classic.
Final price and availability dates are coming soon and you can read more about it here.

But then we saw this in MacRumours this morning:
In a brief note, DigiTimes reports that Taiwanese firm Foxlink is currently developing micro projectors for use in mobile phones, with Apple being one of the companies expected to launch devices with built-in projectors later this year. The projectors would allow the iPhone and possibly the iPod touch to directly project video output onto an external surface.
Not only does that stop and make you think about this product, but even rushing out to get the 3GS. And while we’re on the topic, it seems if you have a 3G iPhone you can just keep it until the next version comes out, which might be sooner than you think. If you don’t have an iPhone yet and you’re sweating to get one then you still can’t lose with the 3GS which we hear has a debut announcement in Hong Kong at the end of this week.
