Watch out guys, LEGO is beginning to get into the electronics industry:
We bet you’ve never seen anything like this! Well, LEGO is really going into electronics with this thing. In fact, these are LEGO’s 2nd generation MP3 players!
These building blocks come with 2GB of storage, a nice LCD display, and a little control pad at the bottom. These aren’t the slimmest and sleekest MP3s out there, but they do offer a very well-known design in a cool package. If only these could be taken apart into smaller pieces…
Unfortunately, LEGO is still quite new into making electronic gadgets, so these MP3 players don’t offer much beyond simply playing music. However, they will come at a very fair price– US$39.99/HK$320. These will be available starting in summer this year, so you can look out for it if you’re interested in getting one.
Samsung’s new MP3s are both technologically advanced and hip to the latest styles.
Last week, Samsung released two new MP3 players and a stylish voice-recording pen. Samsung has always been one of the best in the audio industry with their previous MP3s, such as the P2. Let’s see what they have for us today:
1. Samsung YP-P3
As you can tell by the name, the Samsung P3 will be the official successor to the flagship Samsung P2. Like the P2, it will offer a 3″ 16:9 touchscreen display. Encased in a body only 9.9mm thin with a tempered glass surface, it’s truly one of the slickest MP3s out there. Similar to the iPod Touch, it will offer a customizable widget toolbar that’s expandable up to 5 pages for all your little apps. It has built-in Bluetooth 2.1 so you can pair it up with other bluetooth devices for data transfer, or even use it as a hands-free so you won’t miss any of your calls.
It comes in 2 versions– an 8GB version and a 16 GB one. They retail for HK$1,398 and HK$1,798 respectively.
Sony’s really into competing with Apple with this new iPod Touch killer.
If you remember the Sony Idou and Sony JS Desktop, you’d know what I mean when I say that Sony’s totally in to kill Apple. Sony announced the Idou to be a direct competitor to the iPhone, the JS to be a competitor to the iMac, and now they announced the Sony Walkman X-Series to be the direct competitor to the iPod Touch!
Just like the iPod Touch, the X-Series Walkmans will come packed with built-in WiFi for your internet browsing needs. It has a 3″ OLED touchscreen display, half an inch smaller than that of the iPod Touch, but it’s definitely going to be brighter. Also, Sony‘s new S-Master Amplifier Technology and Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) are also implemented in this new walkman to ensure the highest quality of sound you’ve ever heard from a MP3 player.
Finally, the our favorite feature of this Walkman is the first-ever Digital Noise Cancellation built into the device. With this, any normal headphones you wear can be turned into Noise-Cancelling ones! You know what this means? You no longer have to spend HK$2000+ on those noise-cancelling headphones! Instead, you can listen to high quality music with noise-cancelling features in any normal headphone!
Similar to the iPod Touch, the Sony X-Series Walkmans will come in 16GB and 32GB capacities. However, it will for sure come with a hefty price tag. No official prices have been released yet, but we estimate the 16GB and 32GB Walkmans to be about HK$2400 and HK$3100 respectively. It will be available in stores by the end of May, so while you’re waiting, check out the press release!
J-pop diva takes music distribution to your USB port.
The one and only Japanese superstar Ayumi Hamasaki is going to release her newest 10th album “Next Level” soon…ON A USB DRIVE! This definitely the first time I’ve ever heard of something like this!
The USB Drive isn’t anything ordinary either. It’s a limited edition product! On the cute 2GB USB drive will include 13 of her newest songs in MP3 format, 6 promotional videos, and a lyric book so you can sing along!
This USB drive will sold for a limited time only for 6800Yen, around HK$563 in stores. If you’re a fan, you definitely need to get this fast before it gets sold out! You know how fast Ayumi’s products sell!
If HK$563 is too pricey for you, the album will also be available in 3 other packages– a CD package, a CD+DVD package, and another limited edition 2CD+DVD format. These will definitely be cheaper than the USB drive, but definitely not as pretty or collectible.
