Creating the next generation of mighty morphin’ super-hackers.bandainetbook 450x527 Bandai x Kohjinsha Netbook for Young Hackers

This is where we’re headed folks! Where you and I had plastic action figures when we were kids, today the kids are getting bad-ass netbooks.

The Japanese companies Kohjinsha and Bandai recently worked together to create this limited edition, one of a kind Gachapin and Mukku Netbook. It’s themed with cartoon characters Gachapin and Mukko, which all Japanese children know and you’ve probably seen them before too.

This netbook may look like a toy, but it’s actually quite a decent netbook. It offers an 8.9 inch, 1,024×600 display with an Intel Atom N270 CPU, an 120GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM, WiFi, an 1.2 megapixel webcam, and an 1Seg TV Tuner to watch the latest cartoon shows.

As you can see from the photo, this netbook is darn cute and would definitely be suitable for little kids. However, the price of this thing makes it quite an expensive toy for kids unless they have 200 paper routes. Standing at US$875 or HK$6783, this little green laptop will take all your green too!

This Netbook is currently only available to purchase on Bandai’s website. However, we expect that it will sooner or later be available elsewhere, as Bandai’s website is not the best website you want to visit, which you will see if you visit it. If you want more details of this netbook, you can visit Bandai’s Website here in Japanese.

The newest Eee finally looks like something we’d carry around.

We spotted the above pic at Gizmodo and like what we saw. The new Eee S101 looks to have shaped up in the looks department, obviously taking a few design notes from the MacBook Air, but also upped itself in the pricing department as well.

The pricing on this one is US$700, so around HK$5,600 with 16GB Solid State Drive and XP loaded, but with 3 USB ports, a 4-in-1 card reader and VGA video out, it sounds like the perfect travel computer.

Full specs here at the Asus site, should be out in Hong Kong very soon. And did you know Asus has their very own YouTube channel? Click here to view more or view the S101 features video below:
