Is it another hit for Michael Bay or his worst movie ever?

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen came out in Hong Kong last Wednesday. We didn’t bother to write a full review on this movie because basically we know that everyone is going to see it no matter what. If you liked the first one most likely you will somewhat enjoy the sequel.

So we’re turning the review responsibilities to our readers. Did you see it in a regular 35mm cinema or did you traipse out to Megabox to see it in IMAX (Which we hear is sold out for the next few weeks)? Were you offended by the 2 robots above? Not enough Megan Fox? Want to kill Shia LeBoef? Easily just pick one choice from the poll below or type out a few words, we want to hear from you.

What did you think of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen?

Isabel Lucas is More Than Meets the Eye

Friday. 26 June. 2009. 10:15 am

Yes, its the “other” super hot girl from Transformers.

isabel_lucas_7

If you’ve seen Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen then you, like us, whipped out your iPhone and googled the name of the hot girl in the movie that wasn’t Megan Fox. And you can to the same answer as us: Isabel Lucas.

Isabel is 24 and hails from Brisbane, Australia and has been acting in an Australian soap opera called Home and Away for the last several years until she made it to Hollywood and found her way onto Micheal Bay’s cast for the Transformers sequel. One thing we credit Bay with is his ability to find these deadly hot girls for his movies.

Geek cred to her name is that she dated both Chris Hemsworth who played Captain Kirk’s dad in the new Star Trek movie and will be playing Marvel Comics’ Thor in 2011, as well as Adrian Grenier who us Entrourage fans know as the one and only Vinnie Chase. She is wrapping her next movie about vampires called Daybreakers with Ethan Hawke and was cast in Steven Spielberg’s new WWII drama The Pacific. Isabel looks to have a healthy career outside of transforming into a – ohhhh – sorry we won’t “pretend” to spoil that for those of you who haven’t seen the new Transformers movie yet.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Opens Today in Hong Kong

Wednesday. 24 June. 2009. 10:18 am

Get ready to see Optimus Prime’s weird lips again.

transformers_hongkong

Feeding Hong Kong’s geek world, JP Cinema in Causeway Bay made the time to have a new one-off screening of the first Transformers movie before the new one starts today, but Lord of the Rings this ain’t. I’m sure you can easily follow along what happens from the first minute of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen even if you never saw Transformers 1.

While we weren’t the biggest fans of the first one, the trailers for Revenge of the Fallen look to one-up the original with more Transformers and more crazy stunts until your brain melts and the visage of Megan Fox reduces you to a sniveling fanboy chanting for more.

There’s not much else to say other than if you haven’t booked your tickets for a showing today, you’re pretty much SOL. A collection videos for the movie, game and toys below if you’re still pondering the need to see transforming robots for a second time:

What’s up with the beard, Shia?

Review of the Soundwave action figure. Yes, he’s not a Sony Walkman this time:

and just when you thought it was only a movie, this kind of footage shows up:

(OK that last one is a viral marketing gimmick from the movie studio, but its pretty cool!)

Monkeys and Gentlemen, we present around the world with the lovely Megan Fox: stunning photos of this gorgeous girl from various openings around the world for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Yeah, we’d trade Will Smith and Keanu Reeves for one Megan Fox appearance in Hong Kong any day…a-n-y-d-a-y!

In the video below we find out how the movie company actually made Megan Fox hotter for this Transformers sequel:

Oh no, don’t stop there, keep going for all the pix:

Augmented Reality Transformers: Spend a Day as Optimus Prime

Thursday. 18 June. 2009. 9:54 am

Augmented Reality seems to be a Hollywood web dream come true.

weareautobots

You probably tried out the cool Star Trek augmented reality early last month that was put online to promote the Star Trek movie, well its back, this time for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

We installed the plug-in for our browser and basically what happens is that your webcam can detect your face and turn your head into Optimus Prime’s head, and no matter which way you look you will look like the Autobot leader. Those wanting to lead their friends as Optimus should transform and roll-out to WeAreAutobots.com.

Not brave enough to lead? Then you can watch the demo video below:

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen opens in Hong Kong next Wednesday, June 24

Classic Transformers on DVD

Transform and roll out in 2D before the live-action next week.

transformersdvd

Not enough Giant Robot posts you say? Well, before you start pre-ordering your tickets to next week’s Transformers; Revenge of the Fallen we suggest a quick peek at the 25th anniversary DVD set of the classic animated show from the 1984 to show to you what Transformers is really more than just Peter Cullen’s voice as Optimus Prime.

Get the first 16 episodes on a 3-DVD set and remember the cool boxy Transformers and how the story used to be about, y’know, the Transformers and not the human characters.

Bonus features for this set include:

  • Restored to the original broadcast versions with a new stereo soundtrack created from the original audio
  • Triplechanger: From Toy To Comic To Screen: The Origins Of The Transformers
  • Printable Transport to Oblivion Script
  • Rare PSAs
  • Archival Hasbro toy commercials
  • Limited edition Autobot magnet inside

It’s at HMV for a very affordable HK$255. We’d have loved a Blu-ray version of this, but its not in the cards just yet.

And here is the video for the theme song for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen by Linkin Park, who incidentally will be transforming The Venetian Macao on August 16th:
