Watch your fingers on this one, its less than 10mm thick.

As parts get smaller, laptops get thinner and the Dell Adamo XPS looks like the one to beat.
It’s a measly 9.99mm thin but its not all looks and no brain, the Adamo XPS has 4GB DDR3 800 memory, Intel Core 2 Duo (1.4Ghz) ultra-low voltage processor, 128GB SSD for faster, cooler, quieter and more durable storage and a A13.4-inch High-Definition display.
When you open the Adamo, derived from the Latin word meaning “to fall in love,” the body is raised so the keyboard is angled to enhance cooling, a capacitive latching device like the iPhone, built in location awareness and it comes with Windows 7 64-bit edition.
The pencil-thin Adamo XPS weighs just over 3 pounds, measures 34 x 27.3 cm and you’re looking at prices starting at HK$25,999. More information is available at http://www.adamobydell.com.hk/.
We hope to get a demo unit into the Neonpunch offices in the next week or 2 and see if the Adamo XPS is worth the money.

Flash mobs, charity editions and Ella Koon usher in the new PC OS.

Microsoft Hong Kong released its new operating system Windows 7 in Hong Kong this past Saturday 24th of October. To celebrate they held a special launch event at Times Square, Causeway Bay. Neonpunch was there front row centre to document the event and the fact that the sexy Ella Koon 官恩娜 was there to help promote the new operating system had nothing to do with our devoted attention to this operating system launch.
On hand to demonstrate the new operating system was the seven winners of the “Hong Kong Best Windows 7 Promoters” competition and Mr. Raymond Hung (Microsoft Hong Kong). The group showed a curious crowd of reporters and celebrity guest Ella Koon the unique features of Windows 7.
To help celebrate the event the software giant also held a special charity sale called “Windows 7 HK$377 Charity Offer Day” where 400 lucky people could buy the Windows 7 Ultimate Edition for the bargain price of HK$377 on a first-come, first-served basis. Plus, the first person in line also got an additional free limited Windows 7 Ultimate Edition autographed by Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft.

How much would you pay for 30-inches of laptop monitor screen?

Anyone who’s ever worked with a dual-screen monitor can attest to a dramatic boost in productivity, not to mention convenience. However, not all of us have landed our corner office with enough desk-room for multiple monitors; and these days, just as much of our work gets done on the go. So what’s an efficiency-minded consumer to do? Well, you could pick up a gScreen Spacebook.
At first glance the gScreen Spacebook looks like any other high-end laptop. The 15.4 inch screen is sizable enough on its own, but when extended, the gScreen Spacebook gives users about 30 inches of screen-space! Designed around the fact that not everyone needs a dual-screen monitor all the time, the second screen, hidden neatly behind the first, utilizes a uniquely designed sliding system, affording the notebook maximum versatility.

How to upgrade to Windows 7 in Hong Kong.

It’s great when a big company realizes they made and released such a crap product (in this case Windows Vista) that they are willing to take action on the next one. With Windows 7 Release Candidate (Micro-speak for “beta” and you can still download it here) getting great reviews, it looks like a return to form for the PC operating system.
So what Microsoft is doing with Windows 7 is that from now until the official launch in Q4 of 2009 if you buy a new a new PC with a OEM version of Vista on it, or an actual copy of Windows Vista you will get a special deal to upgrade to Windows 7 when it comes out. Those that have Vista Home Basic or XP are SOL though.
The 3 ways to upgrade are:
- Pre-Installed on branded computers: The manufacturer like Acer has some deal with Microsoft and will have their deal offered to you. The fee to you will be charged by the manufacturer.
- OEM PC’s: An upgrade coupon will come inside the product and no additional fee is needed.
- Box set: When you register your product you will be alerted when you can be upgraded for an additional HK$150
You can get more details here in Chinese from the Microsoft Hong Kong site and in English here.
